90 back under the knife

Postby redneckroot » Tue Apr 10, 2012 8:37 pm

Well the 90's back under the knife. After a few 727 builds and swapping converters I finally got sick of not getting it all to the ground so its nv4500 time.

The weather hasn't been good enough to get them out for the year yet. Don't worry Pete they are still around. Anyone have any ideas on where to get a pig tail to plug into the reverse light switch on the nv4500?

That is a Packard Electric Division (GM) connector you need. The "NEW VENTURE" was between GM and Dodge. It would be pretty easy to find in the junkyard on late 80's on GM products. I think a 4 wheel drive indicator lamp switch on a 241 t case from an 88-98 IFS truck has the same connector. Don't rule out digging through an engine harness, it's a real common connector.

I think I found one through autozone it seems that they used the same connector on a lot of stuff. Thanks Jeff for the tip. I will let you know if it ends up being the right one and I'll post up the part number.

The connector ended up being the right one. I did buy it through autozone but had to do it online since the people in the local store told me they didn't sell them. Part number on the box is: 275. If you take the factory GM number and plug it in on autozone's site it will show up.

Truck is almost done. It has been one thing after another, but a few more nights on it and it should be back on the road.

Well it's back on the road as a 2wd until I can get a front shaft made. Still working on shifting issues. Night and day difference.

So after driving around for a bit I finally rewired my speedo and hooked it up. For what ever lucky reason without the gear reduction unit my speedo is off roughly 1-2 mph according to the gps. I didn't plan on it, I put it together with what I had and could get and for some reason the thing is close enough for me.
