New toy

Postby skilletky » Sat Apr 28, 2012 3:45 pm

Got me a new boom stick. I've wanted one of these things forever. Traded some tools for it. Have not got to shoot it yet. Can't wait to. Had to do a little work and a lot of cleaning on it.

Only bad part is ammo is expensive for it and kinda hard to come by.

I think somebody is screwing you on the ammo. All that red is is a little nail polish. Regular ammo will work.

What is that anyways?

It's a marlin 1895s, 45-70. Those are horniday bullets and are cheaper than the regular old 45-70.

The red is rubber. That way you can load pointed tip ammo in a lever action and not blow the gun up

NICE!

I had a Marlin 30/30. Sadly I sold it a couple years ago when I was in a financial bind. :(

I liked my 45-70, loaded it with 405gr flat nose reloads. But I had to trade it in on a 458 win mag.

I could never sell a gun. The more the better. I am gomna buy some reloading dyes and load me up some. I need to get my shot shell reloaded out and start lOading. I think my dad just got a 458 win mag. I honestly never seen one. He has about 15 guns in some crazy a$$ calibers that I ain't never heard of and he ain't shot a one of them.

Big old cannon like that might kill in both ends. I shot a 458 win mag "1 TIME". Rocky

Yeah, it will probably thump me pretty good. I had a chance to shoot a 50 cal bolt action rifle when I was younger. My dad wouldn't let me :-( my dad shot it with the muzzle break on a few times. He only shot it once with it off. It about knocked him of the bench.

I cast and load for 45-70. used wheel weights cast 340 grain and 405 grain. much cheaper than store bought. makes the same whole in deer as the store bought stuff. they end up just as dead  . also cast and load 38 357 9mm 45acp 30-30 and 35 remington. i'm a lever action junky. hunting for a nice 38-55 now.
