Bought a Bobcat

Postby Diesel » Thu May 03, 2012 5:40 am

Got tiny 313 diesel 35.1" wide! Perfect for around the house. Cost more than my truck did but it sure is nice to have! Anyone else here own a skidsteer?

Those are very handy tools to have around.. we have several skid loaders around the farm.. we have Gehl but it is all in what you are used to...

Around here, it's kind of a personal preferance. Myself, I can't stand foot controls. Not enough give to them, it's either nothing or full bore. So, that's the reason I am not a huge fan of Bobcat's. Myabe it's just the age of the machine, but I prefer hand/joystick controls. ;)

We have a T300 with joystick controls, very handy around the farm and on the jobsite.

If it's got joysticks in it, its good. But all of the places I have been, it's all older equipment, only once place had newer Caterpillar skid steers, those were pretty decent. Of all the older stuff I have ran, I kinda like Case equipment the best...

Well the cat is only putting out 12.5v at the battery. I think that the alternator might be the culprit because its awfully rattly when you grab the pulley and shake it. Belt is real loose too but I am pretty sure that alternator is completley worn out. Do you guys have any sources that can rebuild this at a reasonable price and/or would sell a rebuild kit?

In my personal preference, i will never buy a bobcat even if the price is right, worst riding skid loader ever :) We own john deere with foot controls, they are pretty touchy, but u get used to it after a while, and it rides so much smoother :D

We've got an 8875 John Deere at work. I never realized how big it is, since I'm always around giant equipment, but after seeing a few other skidsteers lately it's a pretty freaking big.

It's got foot controls, and a terrible ride, but I've never been bothered by them much.

I have always prefered New Holland or Case. I worked with those, a tiny Mustang, and a Bobcat. I would gladly pay 2x for a hand controlled over a foot controlled unit.

Since we make skidloader attachments at work we get new ones in to test fit stuff on. Right now we have a CASE SV250, I think its ugly and over sized, I'll take our Bobcat S250 over the case an day.

The foot controls are weird on our Bobcat at work, if you are going full bore moving rock or whatever, they're great! But when you are lifting something, or moving something, and are trying to be easy with it, it jerks around. You start pressing the controls, nothing, nothing, nothing, then WHAM it moves. Can't be ginger with it, just jumps around. Yes, it's older, but it has less than 700 hours on it.

The bobcat we have at work is the same way,lol but its got like 2500hrs on it. So they last quite a while, but i am noticing a lack of power with it, although ive never driven one with lower hours on it

The ragged out ones are tough to deal with, unless the owner is driving it. I've driven a brand new one with .9 hours on it and I'm not good enough to tell the difference between that and one that's older and well maintained. And foot controls FTW I hate hand controls

Did I post this on the Acura Diamante forum or 1stgen.org? Joysticks better than a rod going to hydraulic valve? Electrics over hydraulics?
