My "new" 1993 project/daily driver! :D

Postby bmoeller » Sun May 06, 2012 8:47 am

The fun has begun! :D I'm sure most will recognize this beast! :lol:This will kind of be a build thread, but don't look to it to be happening real fast. ;) Will be adding more pics to my album as things progress (when I remember my camera anyhow  )- http://s1053.photobucket.com/albums/s46 ... %20driver/ Still need to pick up the donor body from Mark as of yet. Going out to get it the weekend of Michael's get together. (Anyone good with body work going by chance? Needs rockers done.) Don't care for the spice/tan interior, so I'm going to swap that over from the current cab.

What has been done so far is-

Quick steam clean of engine bay and wash the exterior, rough interior detail cleaning (more to come), wash out mud/manure from out of the rear duals (need to do fronts yet), turbo swap, replace air filter (old one was BAD!!!) and cut muffler off. 8)

On the current to-do list-

Master cylinder and booster, wheel cylinders, repack front wheel bearings parts picked up yesterday. 4" Diamond Eye exhaust (w/no muffler) should be here tomorrow. :) Need to swap the Kelderman over from the '92 onto this one (gonna try to get it done before Michael's). Install the aluminum wheels. Sandblast/paint frame and get rockers fixed on donor before body swap. Run the overhead. Need a pass side engine mount. Fix my shift lever.

Really enjoy driving this ol' girl! Drives as good as a new one. 8) Ain't much to took at right now, but it'll get there. :)

Looks better in your hands than mine. :D
I just never did much more than drive it a couple hundred miles and left it sit after I got the Crew.
I'll probably never actually do anything with the Crew, either..

BTW, those aftermarket wheels I sold you are called "Prime" wheels, and you can get the 5/8" barrel style lugnuts through lugnutking.com, as I have mentioned before. ;)

Mark.

Was going to ask you the name of the wheels. Forgot. Might help getting the lug nuts.

Still think we need to 4 link the front and rear to add bags. Smoothest riding 1st Gen with big payload capacities.

The single bag setup I have makes a HUGE difference in ride! 8) If I ever replace the springs, I'll probably put the Soft rides under it too. Don't know. We'll see how it turns out with the single bag first. Want some skinny 35" rubber, but doubt they make that. Not putting 22.5 rims on it either.

You'd be more than welcome too. :) I've just been working on it at night, and at random times. Not planned out. So, if I did call, it'll most likely be out of the blue. The trucking makes it tough to plan it out. Loads pop up all the time. Had 3 pop up today. :) Get the other 2 hauled tomorrow. See if I don't get killed with the last one. They already had to shoot one bull on the truck when they got moved to where I have to pick them up. Tried killing one of the guys.

Got the speedo functional, but need a different ratio box. This one has the speedo off by about 50% on the slow side. Drove almost 7 miles, and it shows 3.3 on the trip odo. Reckon the speedo doesn't have dip switches on the back, like the one in my KW does.

No dip switches back there ;) I have been pretty busy too, gettin ready to take another truck to the scrap yard, and help the girlfriend finish unpacking all her sh!t from the move  As for skinny tires, 255/85's ought to work, they are true pizza cutters  I take it you already got the Kelderman on? One of these days I will install the one I got for my 92, still soaking everything down with PB every couple days...

255's are only 33" tall. Ran a set on my 80's vintage F250's. That size is getting hard to find. Kelderman not swapped yet. Soaking stuff in PB Blaster on the 93 as well.

Yep! :) That was the 2nd truck they were on though. Had them on the previous one as well. That one was an '82 with a 400 V8. :) Figured that truck would be dead by now!.

After my bro got a loan for a 7.3L Super Duty, he sold it a Hawley Tree Service. The guy loved the truck but the didnt like the turning radius.

My bro put on bigger injectors, straight piped it, advanced timing a bit, and turned up the pump a bit. It could scoot in the higher RPM's. Sounded like a BBC at idle.
