I'd still get a BD Pressure-loc to keep the line pressure up, or you'll slip the clutches. The TCC will help a lot! :D

Got the retorque done tonight. Found some water in a few holes and blew them out. Oiled up the bolts and torqued them down. Slowed it down, but don't think it stopped. Time to grab the engine hoist and pull the head. Won't be too bad. Easy to get at. :)

Nope. Been on the road. Will be out again most of the next several days. Paid off and got rid of 3 credit cards, so I'm a bit cash strapped til I get my paycheck in the bank. Tater still hasn't got the 92 paid off yet either. Was expecting it this past weekend........

WHAT A POS for putting on 60# valve springs!!!!!!!!!!!!! The bastard slipped off (been doing it constantly anyhow), and now I've got a collet jammed in the retainer. Thankfully, found the other collet that flew off when it went. Working on making my own tool to get it done. Short on hardware in the shop, so I'll have to get some to finish it in a few hours.

I remembered from the last time I used it several years ago that I hated using it. Now I know exactly why and how bad it was. WhAT A F'N JOKE!!

Been taking pics off and on, throughout the head gasket process. :) Got the Cummins parts (upper gasket set, head bolts and thermostat) through our local KW dealer and got the 60# Pacbrake springs through Randall's Performance in Gladstone, IL late Thursday before they closed shop for the day. Weren't in stock, but Brian was able to get them sent to me directly from KY, and were at my doorstep by this morning. :D

Water pump feels iffy, so I'll replace it too, while its all apart. Just wish I had new steel coolant lines that run atop the exh manifold. One was already partially pieced in with hose. Belt is getting replaced, but already had a new one on hand. Save the old one for a spare.

Got the BD fuel pin in, and will give the IP the 1/8" bump on this one as well. For chits n giggles, I'm going to put the stock 18.5cm turbine housing (in place of the non-gated 14), and see how I like it (or not) with the 60 comp wheel. Didn't mess with the tension in the AFC as of yet.

The bolts sure were looser before than the retorque I did. Took quite a bit more effort to remove the bolts this time. No shock it was leaking. No water in any bolt holes this time, though! :D Thankfully, no oil/water mixing in the engine either! :D Block is all cleaned up. Need to do the same on the head.

It the head is off, there's NOTHING like the big 'C' clamp style spring compressor.
That type you got is, as you said, pure garbage.

People can actually get HURT using those things.

Mark.

Bryan, Scott (greenleaf) had one of those, he adapted it to make a better tool. I used the screw type myself, it wasn't that bad IMO. I had to screw the spring in a turn or 2 before I actually tightened it, to get it compressed enough, but no biggie.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
