project choice vote

Postby redneckroot » Wed Jun 20, 2012 8:40 pm

Before you vote here is the info. The project will be used to advertise my diesel business. I have most of the large parts for a pulling truck but haven't spent the cash to build it. If I go with a rat rod it will go drag racing. I have no real reason for the four door other then to daily drive it. Feel free to give your input on why you made your choice.

I'd go with the Crew Cab 1st Gen. Not only will you get more enjoyment out of it by daily driving it (I suppose you could daily drive the rat rod as well) but more people will see it out on the road and you'll potentially entice more customers. A pulling truck would only be seen on the weekends, and I don't know how the classes are around you, but there isn't a VE truck out there that could hang with most of the 2.6 trucks here, and seeing your truck getting spanked wouldn't be good for business. Plus a crew cab Cummins is just bad ass.

Rat rod or 4 door... I will choose later.

A pulling truck is big $$$ around here. A competitive 2.6" has 600-800 hp.

2.6 truck would be a 13mm p pumped 1000+ hp build to be competitive around here.

I voted pulling truck. In the dozens of pulls that I have gone to in the past several years, I have seen two 1st gen and I think both were pretty close to stock. I legit 1st gen pulling truck would be sweet

Oh, I assumed you'd stick with the VE, but regardless I still think a crew cab is much cooler and would advertise your business better.

Rat rod... it could be daily driven, get a ton of attention, be a show stopper....ect... just look at that ford bodied 12V rat that is in a ton of pics all around the web... pulling truck would be cool but you would need to put a ton of time into the whole build, and the racing aspect

All three are lots of time and money which is what has left me trying to choose one for a while now. I never would have thought the four door would be in the running though.

Ok, I voted 4 door shop truck. Easiest to get done, quickest to get set up, cheapest option.

Then get a RCLB rusty farm truck to pull with.

Well as it looks right now the 93 ex cab is going to stay in pieces for the puller at least until winter, mark sold his 4 door and I haven't come across anything that I'd like to build a rat rod out of. So I guess in a month or so it will be on to option 4 which is rebuild/restore my cletrac dd dozer that I have had sitting around.
