PayPal Question

Postby peobryant » Tue Jun 26, 2012 3:26 pm

I've got a buyer for my POD's but he wants to use PayPal. I've used it before to send payment but I've never received payment through PayPal. I don't have my bank account tied into my PayPal, only my debit card, so my question is, if the buyer pays through PayPal and I only have my card tied to the account, will the funds go into my bank account through my debit card, or will it be in a PayPal account and I'll have to add my bank information and transfer it later?

Thanks.

They will send you a check but they charge you a fee.

Ive taken a couple of payments before and mine was set up like yours is. To get the money I had to tie in my checking account. Take one of your checks and get on your Paypal, use the routing number and acc numbers from the bottom of the check. Piece of cake,Paypal will walk you thru it ;)

Opening an account just for Paypal is ideal and just keep $50 or so in it.

Also, there are ways to protect the seller but it goes against their rules a bit.

I prefer to buy rather than sell with paypal but I haven't had 1 problem yet.

Mine is tied to my checking account with my debit card. When I buy the money comes from my checking account if there isn't enough in PP. If I sell, the money stays in PP until I transfer it to checking.

Do NOT EVER do a "gift" when buying/selling. If there is a problem, PP won't do squat about it!

Yup, take a loss on the commission they charge and CYA. You'll be better off in the long run. Now if it's somebody you know,..... ;) I do it with guys I know from here, as a gift and nobody loses.
If I don't know you well, pay up!

There's nothing wrong with a gift once and awhile. Just make sure it is someone that is going to gift you something in return. I quiet a bit with paypal and I can't say that I've had any problems so far. You could always use the money they are sending you on something else that accepts paypal payments if you want to save some of the fees and messing around.

Re: PayPal Question

I have a PayPal Debit card on my account, what's in there can be gotten at an ATM, or it works like a normal bank debit card for purchases.

I don't mind the "Gift" or "Payment Owed" part of it, but if I'm BUYING something and it's over $100, I generally will go with a "payment for goods" transaction and pay the 3% to get the coverage.

I can't tell you how many times I've been on the road and some unforeseen incident came up and I had a buddy who would spot me funds through PayPal in those times.
It's saved my butt more than once.

For all the problems I HAVE had with PayPal over the years, I can also cite some "save my ass" moments, too and I sure wouldn't willingly give up it's convenience.

Mark.

Thanks for all the replies fellas, I appreciate it. I just want to get these injectors sold. I've had over 10 people respond wanting them and I either never hear from them again or they want to lowball me after they said they'd pay what I'm asking. It looks like right now I have 3 serious buyers who said they'll pay what I want so I just have to wait and see who PM's me first and they'll get the injectors.

I don't see how you do this Mark. I'm about to pull my hair out over something as simple as injectors, I can't imagine selling all the stuff you do.

I had 3 prospective buyers for something I just sold last night. 1 offered full price but wanted me to wait a week, another had been contacting me for the last month but I only got 3 or 4 pm's from him, another offered $25 less but wanted to paypal me the money right then.

Sometimes, a lesser offer from a persistent potential buyer is better than losing out on the deal overall.

I have a guy that said he's sending me a money order for the injectors tomorrow. I'm glad I didn't have to use PayPal this time but it looks like a pretty good idea to go ahead and set up my bank account with PayPal.

Thanks again for all the replies.
