No, but everyone has a 2nd gen or a Super Duty. I get waves from people on the road with my truck, but I'm not sure if it's because they're feeling sorry for me driving a beat up 1st gen or if they like seeing a classic being restored at a snail's pace

I agree that about 50% of 1st gens (and old body style PSDs) are way over priced. 10-12k for a 15+ year old truck with 200k+ miles? Get real

New York, Kentucky, Indiana, and Taco. It's really not fair that I've become the standard for Ohioan gayness. :P

Oh, and we all knew you'd come out one of these days, Ellis. Oddly enough, I think we all knew it would be by buying a Ford too.

Those OBS Ford nuts are crazier then the us. They will pay crazy prices for them. My dad has one and its a guttless wonder but still better then that Chevrolet dump truck we have.

225 hp in a 7500 lb truck isn't very exciting and I admit that I miss the torque my Dodge has when I drive my dad's '97. 200+/- hp in a 5300 lb truck is different. Heck in '89, Ford would have given me the E4OD, not the C6. C'mon Dodge :bs:

Just TRY finding a nice crew cab one, either IDI or Power Stroke.
If it's anywhere near decent 4k won't touch it.
I had a totally rust free '92 4x4 F-350 SRW (solid axle front) with a 5 speed and a 7.3 IDI that I got for $1500, put a new windshield in it and a lift pump and listed it for $3700, which turned out to be giving it away, and I couldn't answer the phone calls fast enough.

The guy that bought it paid the asking price, but damned near got his ass kicked out of the truck.
He was shifting the tranny and purposefully doing it so the gears would grind and I called him on it, because I knew exactly how he was making it do it and he got a shocked look on his face when I called him on it.

Anyway, the Forders will pay for nice ones, no doubt about it.

I bet $6k wouldn't either. I guarantee my dad could get $7500 out of his '97 CCSB today with 250k+ miles on it today, close to $9k if he wanted to wheel and deal. I just said I liked them, didn't say I could afford them  They'll come down before they go up again I figure. One of these days, I'll get a 4x4 and the brand ALL depends on the price

Caleb, you a 7500 lb truck is bad? Try 225 hp in a 24k truck. With a gear ratio that tops out at 77mph screaming for mercy. I still can't believe the General Manager is so ignorant and stuck in the 70's that he actually ordered my service truck like that. But don't worry! For $1200, (if it doesn't need parts) Navistar can turn it up! If it needs parts, it will be slightly more.

I know slow  How about a gasser Chevy tandem with less power than a 350, a 5+2 trans, and 1000 gal of water plus chemicals. All stopped by good ol' hydraulic brakes. Gotta love the 70's

Beatcha! 1975 Ford F-750, 361, 5 + 2. Hydraulic brakes. 2500 gallon septic sucker on the back. When I got on the highway, so I wouldn't have to slow down, I would "set up" the truck. I would give a little jerk on the wheel to the right so the load would slosh left, then when it went to the right I was going around the curve to the right down the ramp. Ahhh, the good ol days!

A 1 ton truck with 28,000 pounds and a total length of 68 feet in the Rockies ain't nothing to sneeze at, either.
All in a 1974 C&C converted to a Cummins and 5 speed.
I know others in a 1 ton have grossed more and maybe as long, but very few have done it with those gi-normous hills.
The kicker? The road was winding, spot icy and it was after dark, with areas of fog.

I had 1 or 2 potential shorts-soiling moments with that combo.

20k isn't really much here in Indiana where the highest point is something like 1200' above sea level. It just bugs me how much my little Dodge gets pushed around by the other 15k.

However I have been up and down the Lewiston grade in Idaho and I'd not want to do that with any weight behind me

Have you ever stood downtown in Lewiston and looked UP to see the highway snaking up and around the hill?
I have and as a bonus, I got to do it while emergency vehicles were making their way up to a car fire.

It's a pretty intriguing sight, looking DOWN into Lewiston from that same hill, all the lights below, with the height above the city. 8)
