Jay, you know I hate picking nits, but jetsam is material "jettisoned" to compensate a list or to make a vessel lighter. What you are doing is pitching "poor man's clay targets."

I thought it was flotsam!
Anyway, the parts guy at my (ex)favorite motorcycle shop, which was on the edge of the bad section, had a small pistol. I can't remember how we happened on that conversation. He was a small guy, always wore those Dickies type work pants, you know, kinda baggy. He pulled it out of his pocket, a .32 auto. The thing was the size of his hand, you couldn't tell he carried it. I always found that interesting, you think you know people....

That's why it's called "Concealed Carry." ;) There are some small guns out there. I have a Kel-Tec P3AT (1st gen, of course ;) ) for times when even the J-frame is not concealable. NAA makes a .22 revolver that snaps into a belt buckle, but that's a little too redneck even for me.

You stopped going there because the guy had enough sense to be armed in a bad neighborhood?

I have a friend, who hapens to be a handgun instructor, who carries almost 100% of the time. I think he is a little overboard. I haven't found many places round here that are even close to bad neighborhoods.
He even carried to his company Christmas party :!:
I thnk that's a little over the edge..
but he's still my firend.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. 8)

I carry daily. Not that I need it, but that i feel naked without it. I live in the middle of Davey Crockett National Forest, so the crime rate is within reason. :) I carry an america arms 22LR 5 shot revolver. Its small enough to lay inside the edges of a business card and fits nicely next to my yeller-handled Case. My favorite pistol is my Glock model 22 40 Cal. There is alot to be said about the amount of Law Enforcement that carry this round/brand who depend on it daily.

And my favorite saying comes from my grandpa, who says "I'd rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6!"

Downstairs I have a SigArms Model 232 .380 ACP loaded with Cor-Bon Pow' R Balls--pretty small caliber, but if I ever have to use it, I figure on shooting until the clip's empty. It's a real nice little gun, easy to hang onto if you have small hands. Upstairs by the bed I have a Colt King Cobra .357. I like both of them--the Sig's cute; the Colt makes more of a statement.

I also have a .380...Colt Gov't model. Yes the 357 makes more of a statement, but reverse the roles and I don't think I would be thinking "Ok, he's only got a .380 pointed at my chest so I'm deciding to keep charging at him...bang bang, Ok I was wrong it was really a 357 so I guess I made an error in judgement...PLOP"

Get a gun that fits you and that you like and can shoot fast, accurately, and comfortably. Beyond that, I am not going to offer any sugestions.

It hurts me to say. Get a GLOCK. They may look like the box they come in but it is a box you can throw off a cliff find and shoot a tight grouping
