new old mini boom stick

Postby ellis93 » Fri Oct 12, 2012 10:27 am

its a 22 pump action,I thought it was cool so I bought it :lol:Any one know anything about this gun? I've been told its (was) made by Stevens but says it no where on it,it only says ranger. No model number only the s/l/lr round listing and a serial number. I combed the internet and found values but no time frame in which it was made.

I have always wanted a 22 pump specifically a Rem. 22 pump and I found one when I was 14 for 145 bucks at a swap meet and I thought it was to much money and I later found out they were going for alot more went back the next time and it was gone.......Haven't found one close to that price since... Glad you picked up one looks like in good shape too.

That was made by steven's.

Stevens made many firearms that were rebranded for sales in discount/ chain stores.

When you take it out to try it. Leave the high velocity rounds at home. Use standard long rifle rounds. Those older guns kind of splatter with newer high velocity rounds.

Gotcha,no cci mini mags. All I shoot is the cheap stuff anyhow

It is a cool little gun and my 3rd savage/Stevens branded gun. Working on my Mom right at the moment on a Rossi pump 22 mag, that gun is 30 years old and might have had 100rds thru it.

I have a Steven's 87A. Its a longer gun than that gallery gun you picked up. I wish someone made better scope mounts for mine. The only mounts made for the 87A was for those trashy little 1/2" tube scopes. I would like to put my aim point in it. :D

Oh yea I just noticed you had one of those scopes on it all ready.

That scope only has about a 5 degree field of view. In other words sight along the barrell to find the target then raise your head up, don't move the gun and look threw scope. If your lucky you can find the object before it dies of old age.

trying to finding squrrells threw those scopes is a waste of time. Switch to open sights.

Remember we are talking about a weapon almost 50 years old. Look at the scope mount it has. That is the only one made for it. It will not take a 1" tube scope.

You could take it to a gun smith and maybe he could southern engineer something for a bigger scope. :?

I have the same issue with my model 87A. No good scope mounts. I would love to put my aim point on it. So for now the aim point is on a apache 66 22LR.

I was kidding lol, it would be pointless anyways to have a scope that big on a 22.

I have my grandfathers Mossberg .22, it's a 1944 US B. I need a bolt for it, the pin that shoves the shell in is broken off and part of the bolt went with it. So for now it's a single shot. :(

Ellis, I went there, then googled it, and found lots of info. I then went and got it out of the closet because the bolt in the pics didn't look like I remembered it. Well, the pics were right and I don't know what the hell I was thinking about... So I put some shells in the mag and tried it, and it worked until I got to the last one, which it pushed down and not in. I think I need to go fire a few rounds and then see what happens.

When I pulled it out of the closet my wife asked what I was doing. I told her I was going to shoot myself. Or her. She just grunted and went back to playing on her phone. It's so nice to be loved.

Oh, and I found they now make a bracket that looks like the one on yours to adapt any scope to it. hehehe
