67-69 rusty Plymouth GTX value

Postby bgilbert » Thu Nov 08, 2012 6:03 pm

I'm considering buying two late 60 model Plymouth GTX's. One has a 440 and tranny, the other no eng/tranny. To me, neither look like they can be saved. But I'm not a body guy or restoration guy. Maybe to such a guy, at least one of them could be saved or body parts or glass could be salvageable. One is in much better shape than the other. But both have been sitting outside for who knows how many years. Both have good glass fwiw. I'm only interested in the 440 with 915 heads. There's a chance another 66 440 with no heads and complete 413 could be thrown in. Unknown condition on all engines. $1000 is the asking price for two cars, the one engine and possibly the last two engines. After pulling the engine, is there any value in either car, other than scrap? Titles will come with both cars too.

Did either have/had 4 speeds? Hemi 4 speeds are premium, @ $500 for even core ones.
If either has a Dana 60, it's worth a grand to $1500 easy.

You'd do well to part them on Ebay, even if they are total trash and ESPECIALLY if they are complete with tags and negotiable titles.

Hmmm, the one with engine is an auto. I believe the other WAS a 4 speed, but I didn't see a tranny anywhere. I'll have to look to see what rearend they have. I offered $500 and got a "I'll have to think about it".. Maybe I do go the whole way  . Thanks.

For $500 I wouldn't be able to get my wallet out fast enough. $1000 is still a decent price as long as they are relatively complete. If you have somewhere to keep them, just part them out. You should be able to make a good profit.

Even the 8.75" rears are worth something. I say go for it. They make enough replacement sheetmetal that you should be able to sell them both and not lose anything.

On a '67 or a '68, if the fender tag is still there, under the area marked "AX", it'll call either one or 2 numbers.
ANYTHING with an '8' as the 2nd number means it has a Sure Grip, ie; "18" or "28", "48" etc.
Anything with just a single number '1', '2', '4', etc is just a single spinner.
