I've never heard of a whole book! You must be a prefered customer

Believe it or not, IDIs were the hot thing to have in high school. If you had an IDI, painted perfectly good aluminum rims black, tinted the windows dangerously dark, poorly wired in a PA, slapped some insulting and/or derogatory stickers on it, and put 2" exhaust on it so it would "cackle" you were the coolest cat in the whole dang lot

That's the best fuel ecomomy that I've ever heard of out of an IDI from a reputable source. I've heard numbnuts say that they knock down over 20, but that's BS. A guy I know used to have a 7.3L IDI and he got something like 10 or 12 with an auto no matter what. Not too good in my book

I will back that up because my brother bought that thing and I drove it a time or 2.

That thing was amazing for what it was. Makes me kinda wish I bought it from him when he sold it for a Powerstroke.

Whoa! Too much information, too much information!

Jon and Bryan, that makes for one good IDI story I've heard. I'm still not a fan though  The one that I'm refering to burned up glow plugs like crazy too.

Ya know, WTF is wrong with us? :? I think we turn between 1/3 to 1/2 of these threads into some kinda porn show. I'm not complaining, as I laugh my ass off, but I was just wondering, is it the exhaust smoke?

For a moment, just a split second, you had me feeling guilty that I am a CERTIFIABLE PERVERT, then the moment went away and I felt fine.
One NEVER should feel guilt over that, just because others do!

P.S. The keyboard never gets involved. MN.

Sorry to interupt

I had a flat tire today on this fine piece of American engineering and changed it the old fashioned way. Tire spoons 8) I'd never changed truck tires before, just farm tires so the whole drop center rim theory was about the end of me  I don't need a fancy machine. I don't know why it thrills me so much.

Now we know why Pete and Mark have glasses..... :yuck:

Ever used a hi-lift or a bumper jack to bust beads loose?
It works better using the front of the truck as the weight, as you would imagine.

Done a LOT of them that way in my day.

Damn. I don't feel nearly 43. :(

I have many times. It amazes people when I use a maddox, 2 big screwdrivers and a hammer to change tires.

For small tires, I use a duck bill hammer (dull maddox on one end, hammer head on the other) but I'd go for a handyman jack for an ag rear if necessary. Fortunately, I've never had to change one of those. $$$$ Expensive
