Yes, Andy, a 14HP one on a decommissioned APU.
Once I bled the fuel system, it lit right up and the generator works.
Jon, not as rattly as you might think and really quiet for engine and exhaust noise.

Huh. Big (for its size) flywheel? Kinda looks like it.

It's actually a flywheel with a pulley bolted to it.
It looks bigger (heavier) than it actually is.

OOHOOHOOH,MEMEME! :bounce:

Sorry Mark, I got a little excited. I've been looking for something like that for the garden tractor, or a 3 cylinder one. I've seen none at all in my area, and I know they're out there. Where did you get it?

I bought them from a trucking company that upgraded the fleet.
They are from on-board APUs.
The APU housings and the condenser coils were trashed from rust and corrosion, so they are pretty much worthless for their intended use, but I think I can get 1 or 2 usable systems out of the bunch.

Beyond that, these little engines would be ideal for such things as Pete mentioned, or use them for generators. since they'll push 4,000 Watts.

I played with this one and it will idle down. ;)
They are set at max throttle as-is.
I think I can re-position the throttle lever to gain some more RPMs, since max RPMs is around 2,000, wide open. :D

I know a guy that has something like that on his truck. It's a Rigmaster, 2 cyl (crap, I forgot!) I think it's an Allis Chalmers, diesel that runs a generator and an AC compressor to keep the cab cool and supply power. The AC keeps screwing up and the unit has constant problems. He was talking about getting rid of it. The last I heard, the AC crapped out again and he installed a small AC unit in the cab to use. He removed the passenger seat and has a small fridge there, nice setup.

Yeah, this is fairly new technology that appears to have a durability problem.
From what I'm reading about this particular model, there's seldom ever a problem with the Kubota engine.
It's the generator, A/C compressor and the control unit in the cab that gives fits.

I wonder what unsafe vehicle I could create to try to use one of these in?
Something motorcycle based?

Maybe something stick shifted with a giant centrifugal clutch. :D

Jon, you know if it says JD then the price is 3 times if it didn't. I see junk ones on an auction site here and they go for stupid money as a parts machine.

I had that engine in a mini skid steer. They won't start like a cummins so plan on using glow plugs to start but they work. I rarely hit the grids on my truck but with the kubota you have to use glow plugs or its not starting!
