that's always been a double edged sword with working on cars for a living and have them for a hobby to.

kinda takes the fun out of skinning your knuckles on your classic car or truck.

This is why I never went to school for auto/diesel mechanics.

Meh......I have issues with this, that's why I have 5 different hobbies. Get burnt out on one, move on to the next. Carpentry,reloading/casting and fishing are my go to stress relievers ;)

Ellis, I used to live just outside of Sevierville TN, just down the road from Pigeon Forge. It was pretty common for us to go into Great Smoky National Park every other weekend for a hiking excursion during the spring, summer and fall. We did a few winter trips when the park was open...good times in some beautiful country.

This finally explains why I chose to be a heavy duty mechanic while loving working on trucks. I go work on huge stationary engines, some pumps, some compressors. Then go home and work on my trucks

It really did go by fast.

So I hand calculated my last tank of diesel on my 4th gen yesterday. It was 10.4 mpg. I'm so glad I finally get to delete it in the next week or so

We spend some time every year in the SMNP, one of our hobbies is hiking and that is the closest mountains, we went two times this year once in June for a week and again in Oct for 5 days, both times we hiked up to Mount LeConte, one more trail and we will have hikes all five up to the cabins.

I don't care much for PF and GB, just tooooooo many people and sometimes I hate people..

here are a few pics from this years hiking..

and this Oct...it was 14* when we left the car and the high was 23* that day.

sorry about the crap phone pics...I took 2 good cameras and left both in the cabin.

Dar......I hate to say it,but can't help myself  . I had you pegged for some old crusty white guy,but dang it your still a young crusty white guy
Cool picks, I've done some hiking just not a lot of it.....I can't get a soul to hang with me. It's not how it sounds....I take my time out in the Woods,I pay attention to everything and take it slow. I always wind up having folks pissed at me so I either split off from them or just don't go.

What the hell good is a vacation if you hurry thru it?

Ike....every time I've rented a cabin it's in that little place except this last year. My inlaws rented this last time and had us on the outside of GB. That little cabin sucked, might as well have rented a hotel room.

That's some nice country. The country around me actually pretty beautiful when you get a little ways up. B.C. Is a nice place to visit, there's lots of old trees, and windy roads that are fun to drive

I've done a little hiking, but most of it around 10 years ago so I don't remember a lot of it. Cool stuff though. Saw a train that's been pushed down a very steep hill, and the aftermath of a rock slide

We hike like that to Elis, I love getting to a shelter or a resting spot with other people and say " did you see the bear poop, bobcat
tracks, spotted salamanders, apple snails" on the way up.......there like NO WHERE WAS THAT AT... and I say... rite buy the peregrine
falcon nest.....and there...oh I didn't see that .....so many people run down a trail
and miss the hole point of the hike....we stop often and get off the trail and just sit still and listen and look.
