I'm all for not wasting money. Don't the little grooves in the flywheel just amount to more surface area after the clutch is broken in and therefore a better bite?

I do the same if they aren't bad. He just mentioned it slips when we were talking about it up there. That just makes me wonder if its hot spotted.

Caleb, on my 47RE I pull the crossmember and bolt the trans mount to the rear of the jacks plate, then use a wood block to take up the space between the trans pan and the jacks plate in the front. It balances just about perfect there. Not sure how close it will be on your ZF, but it's a starting point.

Alright cat daddy, this might be different than what you'll use but my trans Jack has about a 1sqft platform to contact the bottom of a trans. No really a good thing on a trans with a rounded bottom. What I use to combat that is a 2x12 with a 3/4" piece of plywood screwed to the front with a V cut in it for the bottom of the trans to sit on. When I use this holding apparatus I also use a 1" wide ratchet strap to hold it to my trans Jack.

On that zf,once the cross member is out of the way,cut yourself a board about 10 or 11" in length, build and attach a piece that has the V cut in it to the 11" board. Now position the rear of your board on the contact surface of the trans mount, butt it up against the mounts studs. Position your floor Jack under the board,I assume that's what you'll use,and strap it together.....good to go ;)

Make a cradle out of wood? I figured I'd make a custom wooden trans jack attachment for my floor jack. So essentially the same thing.

Was that some jargon of young folks that you adressed me with?
