Best way to mount a toolbox in a pick-up truck?

Postby Begle1 » Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:06 pm

I got my truck Line-X'd like a year ago or so, and the toolbox has been out since.

Then I moved.

Then I lost the J-bent 3/8's bolts that were holding the toolbox in.

What's the best way to mount the toolbox in my truck? I'd rather not drill my bed rails.

^This. Any larger hardware stores have them, or just cut, heat and bend some all-thread.

How do I not bend the lips of my bed when I tighten down the J-bolts?

I was thinking of trying to put a piece of angle aluminum down under the lip and clamp to that with the J-bolts, although I figure that wouldn't be very tight.

I'd go with J Bolts again. It's not a Wells Fargo strong box is it?

Use the angle aluminum. Just put it so the sides contact the inside of the top rail and the inner lip. That should spread out the tension enough not to hurt anything.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
