Pedal Tractors

Postby redneckroot » Thu Jul 11, 2013 8:47 pm

I've been looking into building one for my soon to be born son. (I know a bit ahead of the ball) Does anyone know anything about the new metal ones? Are they piles? I was going to build on to as a pulling tractor look alike but I'd rather do that once they out grow the little ones.

Here is what I'm talking about.

The cast ones are just about the same as the older ones, I would wait to paint it till I see his little package.....you mite need to
paint it pink.

I have one that is 65 years old and one that is 26 years old and the quality is about the same.

my cousin was having a big 9 lb boy till it hit the table and it was a big 10lb girl.

not trying to rain on your parade....but they are wrong every now and again.

the ones they use at the tractor shows for the kids peddle pulls are lawn mowers converted into peddle power, and are super low geared....

that would be cool.

Do you think the brand new ones are any good? Or are they some alumicast pile of junk?

I think they are ok, but you can find an old one on CL or a flea market and fix it up for the same money and the cool factor is
way better.

For our kiddie pull at the JD show they have a JD pedal tractor with real wheels on the back. It was regeared too.
Tom, check at the western NY steam show, it's in Alexander NY, not far from you. I think it's in September. Vendors there might have something you can make fit your needs.
