Am I the only person who thinks that this is crazy

How can a person justify buying a truck for that kind of money :? Especially in todays economy. I realize that folks can now get up to,might even go beyond,8yrs of finance terms. I only paid alittle more to build my house, labor supplied by my back.
Another reason to keep my turd running for another 10yrs

The base price scares me.

What else is scary is allowing a pick-up to gross 30k lbs. Seems kind of ridiculous. I can't believe that an automatic of any sort can stand up to that sort of weight and fit in a pick-up truck. Oh well, they're engineers. They're smarter than me

The MSRP on the 97 3500 I had, was $42k.

A guy I work with sometimes retired from Deere. Bought a new Suburban that cost something like $80k! Has TV screens in the back of the seats and all. Said the granddaughter liked to watch mmovies on trips. (An aftermarket one that is one hell of a lot cheaper wouldn't have worked?)

If I were to spend that much on a truck, it's gonna be a KW or a Pete.

I just don't get it  I could see someone buying one and using it for hot shot purposes.....but a regular Joe? How can you justify it? It doesn't make good financial sense to buy that and pay for it for 8 plus yrs only to be worth one fifth of it's base price at pay off.

Money must mean nothing to some folks,to me it's hard earned and must be spent wisely.

Yep, this is the reason that companies don't concentrate or offer products to the 1st gen crowd.

It's as easy to sell $30,000 worth of go fast stuff AND vehicle accessories to a 6.7 owner as it is to sell a single turbo to us.

It's all about looking cool and being important in this "big world" to 95% (not all) of these people.

theres a few farmers around me that will have a brand new truck looking 15 years old in less that a month. i know trucks are for work, but my butt would pucker working a new $70K truck that hard, unless it has more than 10 gears and a 12L or bigger engine. i have the window sticker from my 1stgen with a price of $25K. i wonder what that equates to in todays money.

I've been saying for years now its insane. I didn't pay much over that price for my house. This is why we are seeing used trucks going insanely high for junk.

I have spent money on my truck......about 3k worth in about 2yrs on just stuff, not necessarily go fast parts,my truck ain't fast.....it refuses to be fast by having 4:10 gears

Everyone here that has these trucks are in possession of them for one of three reasons, A they like them.....B they can't afford anything else......C it was pawpaws.
Why the hell would you put 30k in one of these trucks anyhow.....if I had that kinda money to throw away it wouldn't be on parts for my truck. No,I'd more than likely do something much different......like buy gold, lead, gunpowder, can goods, concrete bunker, explosives  the zombies are coming

There is a line between having money and spending 70k on a new truck when it's only to drive to work and back.

The point of this thread (Ellis, correct me if I'm wrong) is to ask why in the heck would someone spend $900-$1500 a month in JUST payments to drive 20 minutes to and from work. I GUARANTEE 85% of these new trucks are driven to and from work, which is under 20 minutes.

I think I have several people in this thread that I can call friends, internet and real life. The above applies here fantastically.

If you don't like what someone has to say and you reply to them, they just are sitting behind their computer thinking "FISH ON!!!!!" and pretending to reel you in. By responding, you are taking the bait.

I do agree that $70k for a truck is absolutely crazy, but if I were in a position where I could comfortably afford one you can bet your ass I'd be in a fully loaded '13 3500 right now. What is the point of money if you aren't going to use it on something that makes you happy?

Also, I'd love to see the statistics that prove that 85% of these trucks are just driven to and from work. You guaranteed it right? That's a Billy Mays promise right there.

Did anyone else read through this thread picturing a Benny Hill chase scene?

All we need is a couple chicks to get their clothes torn off and start chasing Ellis and Mark around.
