Dman.... you ever 0-60 Jaeger? The '06 does it in 6.35 - 6.40 seconds, boosted launch in 4wd.

Not with the 80, but it'd do it about that fast with the stock turbo 2wd flat footing from no boost

How in the heck can your truck get that much traction? In 2wd.... If I just flat foot it, it literally won't move... it'll just sit there burning the tires and shifting til it hits o/d and then it'll burn out til about 40.

It actually breaks all 4 loose (incredibly slightly) with being boosted.

Not sure, but it's always done it. It'll spin a bit when the turbo lights, then just hooks up. Maybe it's gearing or tires. It'll brake stand no problem

Only on the manuals. On the autos apparently it's easier to get them to fuel hard than the earlier ecms. Traction control though would add a second to the 0-60 though

Just like the very first autos, instead of building to meet the power they just put a huh? converter in them and let them eat the extra power, it's sad they can't find a better way of handling the power output, especially considering how much better mileage could be if they'd lock the TC and actually use the throttle-by-wire for something. :roll:

Loose convertor means less of a chance to break a hard part. In their eyes that's better.

Locking the converter early leads into other problems that would need upgraded. Any thing splined on a shaft would need redesigned also. The 2 piece input shaft is one item. The front clutch is splined onto the input shaft. Those splines do not like locked shifts. Both sun gears setups are splined. They would have the same issues. The intermediate shaft is splined into the output shaft.

No OE MFG is going to build a trans to that level. That is for a performance application. They are building vehicles for every day type of driving. The average Joe consumer doesn't need that level of build or want to pay for that level of performance. Look at any year range of CTD trucks. The orginal new price would be double or more if it had been built to what everyone thinks it should have been built to. So our trucks stickered around 24K. How many would have been sold for $50k+ in 93????
