A decent rev-matching setup would eliminate almost all shock load on that stuff, that's how our Cat articulated trucks worked.

Hell, even our older Terex trucks locked in every gear, then unlocked for shifts and relocked when it was safe. They'd rather spend their money on Super Bowl ads and pensions than R&D, it's no surprise they're still recycling 20yr old band aids.

The 2013 gas Chevy 2500HD we have has the 6L90E trans in it. Every gear from 3rd on it locks ASAP except WOT. 50% throttle, is shifts in to 3rd at 30mph and it is locked.

Jon, my 08 Caddy has the 6L80 in it, it does almost the same thing. I can lug that 6.2 all day long from 1100rpms and up. Pretty neat feature, just tip into the throttle and it pulls right along. For a GM product, I am pretty pleased with it except one part, it needs a selectable transfer case

Seriously, between rev-matching and torque reduction, there's no reason a throttle-by-wire truck can't make a current auto live. This stuff is literally the point of DBW, without using it you're just wasting it...

I get that if some dork gets a laptop and turns that stuff off, there's gonna be chaos, but it's not like dealers don't already tell people to GTFO when they've tampered with stuff.

That's one thing that's kept my trans alive is defuelling between shifts. I think the big charger helps a bit too, but I'll be glad to get The Roo Hunter running again, so I can have a proper trans with the right amount of pedals on the floor

Dodged a bullet with the truck today. The trans went weak all of a sudden, so I pulled over. The upper trans cooler line popped right off of the fitting up by the battery. The hose clamp came loose. Hosed half of the engine compartment in atf. Did you know that the trans will pump out 4 quarts in a half mile? I filled it up and all appears normal. 8)

Good job to you for pulling over when it started feeling weird. A guy that's kinda local to me was cruising in his '92 when it started feeling weak. He put the skinny pedal down further and further until the truck wouldn't move any more. Finally decides to check it out once he was stopped anyway. Turns out he had left his hubs locked and the front drive shaft had worn a hole in the hose for his trans cooler in the bed.

You'd think being upside down would've kept some of the fluid in. Maybe it's just the image though

From the looks of what is on the ground. Its time for a fluid/ filter and band adjustment.

I'm Going to second that. The Roo Hunter has new trans oil since it got rebuilt 4 months before I broke the truck. If I get it running it'll need new engine oil though.

On another note I finally got over a 3 post per day average on cummins forum

I'm blaming you guys for the low post count here, and you've got more than 2 years of post whoring on me here Caleb.

I figured it was a milestone Jon. Like 1000 posts kind of thing

Well, after a few things that went on there, I don't visit often. I visit CF and DTR on rare occasions.

I'm on CF quite a bit, but don't post much. DTR is pretty much dead anymore. It used to be I'd have 1-2 new pages of threads every day. Now the first page goes back almost a week.
