Big thanks to Ike. I got new injector lines! As close as we are, I tried seeing if our schedules jived to meet up but sadly we couldn't. Now it's 10* out and I don't want to do anything.

He would still need injectors rebuilt, turbo and hpop. He is looking for a Cummins truck to convert it or he is going to swap body onto his dump truck.

I don't see any reason to pay for machine work with the used engine market the way it is. CTD or PSD. I've seen forged rod long blocks for $900 on Craigslist. I won't dispute that the 12v is stouter, cheaper to own, and all around better than the 7.3l, but I have yet to see proof that swapping them is a sound economical choice.

I would never put a used PSD in one of my trucks without opening it up. I know with their dependency of clean oil its too easy for one to go to sthi because of lack of maintenance. I do well enough parting trucks Id buy a donor 12v and part the rest out. Me and a guy I'm helping did this with his truck. He has actually made money on the ones he has bought.

I'm cheap and don't want to tie up the money. Plus I hate the idiots on Craigslist

cmann250 wrote:I'm a bit afraid to check if I have PMRs. Sad thing is for those of us driven by money, a forged rod long block for a 7.3L is cheaper than a Cummins. Swap accessories and go to town. I looked and to get everything perfect, it's $4000 plus the engine to swap a 12v in my truck. Sadly I can't justify that in something that isn't a toy.

I'm thinking (almost certain) it can be done way cheaper on your truck......thanks to the manual trans. On an auto truck, buying mounts, bell, and trans flex plate/trans controller that figure was about 1500$ more than that 4gs. That is what I looked at on that 06 I had.
I should have kept that truck.

I had a customer buy his own motor and bring it to me one time,I told him I was skeptical of the mileage of the engine and the time it had been on the shelf because of the amount of white corrosion growing on the aluminum pieces. He disregarded my feelings and I installed it.
Long story short it didn't run.....the fuel(or what ever was in the head fuel cavity) had turned to jelly and stopped everything up. The HPOP had what looked to be tar in it. A total cluster.....and I still got paid.

I only buy reman or new diesel motors for my customers.....me,I'll run a used cummins.....not a powerstroke

It can be done cheaper, then you can sell your engine to recoup some cash.
