That will be a nice truck, I am afraid to ride/drive one because I don't want that temptation rattling around in my head.

I will just go on thinking all trucks are created equal...

All the new trucks really need is a tuner... and they absolutely haul

Yes, but there's a catch 22. A tuner unlocks a lot of power, but with the exception of the 6.4L, tuners are so good that something else gives. I know an Allison will slip with EFI live. Dman has indicated he has slipped the 68RFE in his 4th gen with custom tuning. In a GM truck if its not he transmission, you'll need a lift pump.

I've heard a lot of folks talk about how bad a design the 68rfe is. I think this is why Dodge is trying to get away from it. With an Allison anything 80+ HP over stock and they get pissy. Ford still has the tq convertor issue but I think they pulled a Dodge move there to make it loose enough to absorb a lot of power.

Lml duramaxes with their cp4.2 can't flow enough fuel fuel for 500hp (neither can the 6.7psd) that's makes me laugh a bit as my cp3 flows enough for 550 with the right tuning. Some guys have managed to keep stock 68rfe's alive at 600+whp but they get some chatter in a couple of the gears. Mine has quite a few miles so that's probably why it's deciding to go into limp mode

The term (limp mode) cracks me up, the only limp mode I have is hitting the rail road tracks too hard and my knee hitting the
dash then I have to limp from the barn to the house.

with the right tuning these new trucks can keep their emissions junk and still make over 600whp and do a lot fewer regens at the same time. Rail pressure is on of the keys to reduced emissions so if you could get an mp8 or ats atomizer it'd only benefit you. Though if you start turning the power up on the manuals the clutch will give out pretty quick

Yeah, I know. I'm going to wait and see what they come out with for tuners and go from there. Like I said before, my brothers '08 impressed the hell out of me. It beat the hell out of my truck back then and all he did was put the tuner on the low setting, maybe +50, I don't know. It was rated at 350/650, about the same the manual is now. It would be nice just to have a tuner with an economy mode too.

I'd say the same thing applies to 1st gens as well. Start doing mods without rebuilding an A518 and see what happens eventually. and we gotta upgrade our fuel systems as well. I'm getting past the speed demon phase anyways. I just want something that will tow what I want at a good speed, and not have to worry about anything. I don't speed much anymore, I am getting old.

The cost difference is insane though. A piston pump is 1/3 the cost of a FASS or an Air Dog. A built Allison is $4000 versus the $1000 that I have in my performance 518.

Post some real world fuel economy numbers, please.

That's a pretty mild Allison Caleb. 8 grand is the going rate for a truly built auto nowadays. I know Ryan Millikan is working with h&s on custom tuning for 13+ rams. Once it comes out a clutch will be needed pretty quick

I will when I can, for sure. My 2014 will weigh 1000 lbs more than my 1992, for the record.

Wow dude, I haven't even got the truck yet.

From what I have been reading in the 2013+ section on CF, the EVIC in the newer trucks is pretty close to hand calculated mileage.
