HOLY CRAP IS IT FREAKIN COLD!!!!!!!!

Postby CAJUN 93 » Wed Jan 29, 2014 7:46 am

It's in the teens down here with ice everywhere. Roads are closed. People are freaking out. I don't know how ya'll yankee guys live with it for so many month of the year. Of course you don't have to deal with the occasional hurricane and 100 degree summer days, but damn.

Daryl

P.S. I'm not kidding, it's freaking COLD!!!

It was -18 in our holler this morning, I never took off my coat, gloves, or toboggan for the entire drive to work. The Ranger barely got warm on the 15 mile drive. The roads aren't bad now though, they've had salt on them for like 2 weeks and we haven't had snow for a while.

I'm with Dazed though, if it's gonna be cold it damn well better be snowing. I love driving in the snow, but there's so many idiots around now that any amount of accumulation on the road gets a level2 emergency out and you're not supposed to be driving unless you need to.

Pisses me off, I remember our school bus picking us up in 4" of snow and now I'm not even supposed to have my personal vehicles out in it. :?

Hey you guys need to remember we have a Hellava lot more humidity than you cats. It's 20 here, with 58% humidity and 15mph wind......weather guy here says it feels like 8°

There's at least an inch of ice on the Roads here.....we don't have salt/sand trucks nor plows. Everyone is stuck where they are......including me.

I've spent the morning wrapping chain around my tractors rear tires to pull my FIL out of a ditch. Fun stuff

This is true, I never thought about it until earlier. One of the truckers came in and was talking about hauling salt. We were talking about the snow at myrtle beach and stuff and he mentioned that they don't even have plow/salt trucks there. Said it would basically shut the place down.

Humidity says a lot on how it feels..... however, feels like 8 still isn't as bad as -8 and feels like -40.

Either way, we've (once again) not gotten hit with the massive storms that the country gets hit with every year now. But, I still hate it when it is below 50 degrees outside.

This is my current environment, not terribly cold but the wind has some bite. Compare temps and humidity and let me know. We don't use salt trucks either, its stays cold so the roads don't usually ice terribly and the snow just blows off.

FYI, i hit the ditch in a snowstorm last weekend doing 40km/hr. Could not see a thing.

I guess it all boils down to what you grew up with and are accustomed to. This damn sure ain't what I'm used to. The ice is what really sucks. My back deck was like a skating rink this morning.

Southern sissys  I've been out working most of the past week in -5 to +10 temps, the windchill at 10 was about -20 the other day while I was out. I drove back to the shop Monday in whiteout conditions for most of 12 miles on the ride back. (I wasn't liking that) I'm ready for spring though, with it this cold I get home and don't want to do anything, even inside.
