I had the service truck, 24k lbs of underpowered overtractioned snow cruiser. Everybody was doing 25-30 and I just blew right on by. If I could see them and the posts on the side of the road I went.
I agree though, ice really sucks. You need chains or studs to be really safe.:

Man if only I had that old military truck back, assuming the 6.2 would have started,it would have done well with that tool body on it. It was ungodly heavy as well.

Ya i dont mind working on stuff. Funny part is out of 6 mountain trips last year when i took my 03 rmk carbed sled, i never had a single hiccup. My buddy with his new fuel injected skidoo had a few different issues, one which stalled our day at about noon.

Only Ski Doo or Yamaha for me, and I've never owned a Yamaha sled yet. My buddy had a Phazer and it ran great and was dependable as all hell. My sled is a '91, so I don't need to worry about fuel injection issues.

Yep.......I have a 94 Arctic Cat Jag 440 dlx. Old, slow, air-cooled, gets stuck in a foot of wet snow.........but it has NEVER let me down yet.

Yamaha and Suzuki.......the 2 things that have never let me down. Whether it be marine, atv, motorcycle, or sled.

If it ain't Honda,it ain't schit. Toughest machine I've ever had. Fastest.....no. The fastest machine I've ever had (stock) was a V-Force Kawasaki. Lime green screaming machine.

When I worked in the marine business......the company that I worked for was large enough that they carried.... Evinrude/Johnson, Honda, Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki.

(hp for hp)

Honda - 2nd worst in fuel economy (though claimed the highest), lowest in performance, geared for higher rpms, warranty was small....seemed to last decent.

Merury - full blown garbage.

Evinrude/Johnson - Had up and down warranty issues (I'm talking BAD at times), fuel economy was decent, performance was 2nd best.

Yamaha - Almost identical to an Evinrude/Johnson.... just without the warranty issues at times. They weren't as much of an "innovator".

Suzuki - best fuel economy, BY FAR best performance (I'm talking 6-8mph faster than the others, and quicker out of the hole), I worked there for 6 years.....NOT ONE WARRANTY CLAIM IN 6 YEARS (sold probably 500 engines in that time).

I had an 86 Suzuki 230 quadsport that I forgot to tighten the drain plug after I dumped the oil and let it sit a week while I waited for rear axle bearings....dumped oil in and ran it down the road and it dumped all the oil out and locked up....pulled it apart knocked the wrist pin out cleaned it up and the rod bushing and slammed it back together using silicone for the jug and copper coat for the head gasket and rode it for along time like that lol.

Don't know anything about boat motors, other than they all suck balls to me. I don't use one long enough to justify owning one. All I have now is a 1965 5 1/2 evinrude fisherman and a 10' flat bottom. I "might" use it twice a year. I had a basscat tri hull with a 85 Johnson on it before and that dude was worked on longer than it was used.....total waste. When it ran it screamed, and drank gas like no other. These days I'm happy to just stay away from anything marine.
If I want to go ride in a boat I'll just borrow my brothers. ;)

Boats (like many toys) are ridiculously expensive to own (well, they can be), and unless you do a lot of fishing or boating.... a complete waste of money.

I run older stuff myself (snowmobile, boats, 4-wheeler is actually newer being a 2007)........because I don't see the point in spending that kind of money for the little use they get. And when I consider little use, I still use them more than most. I use the sled for hunting in November if I need to. I fish 2-3 times a week in the summer and use the boat for duck/goose hunting and trapping. The 4 wheeler gets used weekly, year round.
