Parts Review Section?

Postby cmann250 » Sun Mar 23, 2014 2:33 pm

This idea is all RCCUMMINS' idea.

Does any one else think a parts review section would be good? I'm thinking a bank of reviews on performance, aftermarket, and even stock replacement parts would be useful. This would sort of be a "Do's and Don't's" of maintaining and/or modifying a 1st gen. In theory a "library" of reviews would be a one stop shop for the low down from people that have already been there and done that. This way we, the pool of 1st gen owners, can avoid the mistakes others made and capitalize on the success of others. I'm sure that folks thinking of buying high dollar parts would like reviews from people that already have/had the part. I believe that from a newb's prospective, the section would be great. I can't count the times I spent money twice to get the desired result when I first bought my Dodge. The same can be said for when something uncommon breaks or goes wrong.

For example, early on I didn't know that the blue Mopar voltage regulator was the one to have. None of the others are nearly as reliable. Another one would be which brake master cylinder is actually any good? I'll need to tackle my leaking one sometime soon. Those Atlas springs that RC found would be a good candidate for this proposed section too.

Opinions? Thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea as long as all the reviews have no bias or opinion in them. I would rather look at reviews with facts and numbers in them, than "this turbo/injectors/fuel cone made my truck run like crazy!!"

Of course there are some common sense assumptions behind the idea. Quantifying statements is one. Projecting a fair representation is another. A review written at 3am about a complex install going wrong probably isn't worth much.

There is always going to be a bias opinion.... whether it be from a vendor, or an individual. The opinion, just like anything else on this forum, has to be sorted out by the individual reading the post.

I installed Bushwhacker fender flares today...........PERFECT fit in the front, I don't think anything could actually fit so well to be honest. The back, however, about an inch shy... I made it work and fit perfectly. But, it was a little bit of an art to make it happen. Had to do one of those "screw here, bend here... and then screw there, re bend there" type deals.

P.S. Lifted RC on 37s, bushwhacker fender flares are officially the best looks mod one can do. Oh, my!

Last time I was looking for flares for The Roo Hunter I couldn't find anything. I was at the point of saying f it and make my own

Also I think a review section would be nice

Bushwhacker is the only company that I'm aware of that offers them.....Jegg's carries them for $379 w/free shipping.
