Semi truck pulling in the Netherlands

Postby Jelmer » Wed Feb 11, 2015 12:47 pm

Overhere in the Netherlands semi truck pulling is getting more and more popular. The rules are a bit different than the US rules but it is still very spectacular!
Some rules are that you can only use an engine that has the same brand as the frame and cab or a brand that is part of it. So if you have a Mack you can't use a Paccar engine but you can use a Renault or Volvo engine.

Another rule is that the engine is used in highway appcications so 18,5l is the biggest you can use (M.A.N and Mercedes) and the RPM's are limited to 2900.

Here are some youtube clips of some of some of the best trucks, there are 23 trucks is this competition.

An German made Magirus-Deutz with a Iveco 17,2l V8 with a Sigma pump and 2 Borgwarner S500 turbo's:

A Swedish Scania with 16l Scania V8:

Pretty cool trucks!

2900 RPM is a killer though.. I kept waiting for them to put the hammer down. Sounded like they were only running half throttle compared to what they run around here lol
1990 W350 4X4 NOW INTERCOOLED 5-speed. Boost/Pyro. Few light tweaks to the pump. Now a dually with an aluminum flatbed!!
