What happened to it? I'm sure I read it but can't remember.

Work nights, was headed home and best we figure i blacked out for a few seconds. Came to cruising the ditch on the opposite side of the road. Ran threw a small clump of trees, which dented the hood, cracked the grille and pushed the bumper up into the valance. The roof damage is from a road sign i ran over just before the trees. Only other damage was the parking brake cable and a peel mark.on the inside dual rim, my guess from the metal post I broke off.
Afterwards, talked to a doctor, and they figured it was stress related, as I hadn't been sleeping good, maybe only 3-4hrs a day, worried with work slowing, bills, family issues, etc, finally caught up with me. I never noticed, but friends had noticed if I sat down for any more than 5 min I was out cold, then just wake up and continue like nothing happened

Anyone know the wattage on the factory block heater? I want to get a small space heater that will warm the cab a little on those chilly mornings my blower fan only runs on low right now don't want to overload my extension cord

Edit: seems to be 750 watts

Old Smokey got brakes today!

Postby Rob_O » Sat Dec 10, 2016 7:20 pm

So my brakes went from bad to worse in the past week, on the way to my friends shop today I had to anticipate stops and pump the pedal at least twice to get *any* braking. New brake master, front calipers, hoses, pads, fixed a vacuum leak and adjusted the rears and wow! you hit the brakes now it slows down immediately not eventually. Also put on a new idler arm and it doesn't want to change lanes every time you hit a bump. Feels like I'm driving a Lamborghini now (The supercar not the farm tractor)

Now all that's left is everything else...

That's good you have brakes again.

So it's been fairly cold this past week (wind chill of -31 last Sunday, highs of -19 during the week, yesterday warmed up to -26), well as it turns out that's just too much for the 710cca battery I've been using in The Roo Hunter (it was free, and I don't have the money for a new group 31) the reasonably good news is I have another good battery laying around, so I just need some cable, and I can put the two together, and have enough amperage to start the old girl in these temps if need be.

Good on you for checking in Jon. Hopefully your family is well.

I got my dual batteries mounted up today. They turned out a little better than expected. I still have to wire it in, but that shouldn't take too long now I know how long I need to make the cables.

DM, why are you running the 1st gen and not the 4th for the winter?

Thanks!

Girls are getting big, I am starting a new job January 3rd, giving my 2 weeks tomorrow, have no need for the Cruze diesel but I want to keep it. I may get into another truck by the end of the year for a tow vehicle.

The 4th gen starts better than The Roo Hunter with its two batteries. I just can't afford the insurance to drive it, so I drive the old one for now.
