Nice clean truck, especially from Illinois! That's funny you say that about the wheels, I was liking them!

Jon, I got forced for a 16 hour shift at work on Friday the 31st and decided to browse Craigslist. I texted him, asked about it and went and bought it on Sunday the 2nd. It had only been on Craigslist for a few hours, I believe.

It does need a bit of work though, especially the brakes. I was driving to my grandfather's farm yesterday, a traffic light turned red, I put my foot on the brake and it went to the floor. I rolled right through the light and luckily was able to downshift and come to a stop a little later. I was only a few miles from my house so I turned around and limped home. I replaced the leaking brake lines today but I plan on replacing the rest of the lines as well as front calipers because they are pretty rusty and I may as well do it now as opposed to waiting for something to fail again.

So, what is the best place to buy brake calipers for a '92 W350? Also, do they make a brake line kit for these trucks or will I have to make and bend my own?

Thanks guys, and man it feels good to be driving a first gen again.

As far as I have found, nobody makes a prebent kit for our trucks. You could call inline tube or classic tube and see if they offer something, but for the price, personally would be further ahead to buy a roll of Ni-Copp and run your own lines. Bends nice, flares nice, and doesn't rust. Calipers I usually get from the local CARQUEST.
If your planning on getting new rims, you may look into a set off a newer truck that's 17", and upgrade to the larger calipers and rotors. This is the oath I'm taking on my W350, only I plan on 19.5's if I can find them, otherwise they be 17's. There's a company thay makes a new caliper bracket that allows you to run the caliper and rotor off a 3rd gen with the 14" rotor and dual piston caliper. You have to machine the O.D. Of the hub alittle, and they don't fit under 16" rims.

Aren't the Ford F350 dual piston calipers a direct bolt on?

Not unless you swap everything from the knuckle out, or so I've read. Never found a ford Dana 60 to grab parts from and try it.

WTH is wrong with my life? I was going to get a load of firewood Saturday, and was blowing up the tires on the 2nd gen, and found a broken spring! It figures it was the bottom fat load carrying spring too. I can't win sometimes. :(

Do you run overload springs? I just took mine off, wish I'd done it a long time ago. I have enough travel now to tell the rear shocks aren't doing much. My left front brake line broke off 3 weeks ago, been idling around with back brakes. My Ebay replacement came yesterday, hopefully get it on tomorrow. I think the upper balljoints are growing negative camber at nighttime under the strain of the moonlight and the cummins. I hate dodge suspension, except the 1st gen 4x4's. I need a pre-runner for my driving, especially in winter. Something like a 70's F250 or 350 2wd crewcab with an Autofab kit, and a 4bt. (If I can find one nice enough that the old lady doesn't freak out about buying ANOTHER old truck, lol) Or, finance a newer chevy 1500 crewcab and put a long travel kit in it. And a 4bt.

Nope, they aren't made like that on the 3/4 tons. I went to my buddies to check the parts truck, an 02 2wd 2500, it has a 6200 lb rear axle in it! I could tell the springs weren't as thick as mine, then I found the tag under the hood. I was bummed. I was just going to leave the main, and replace the rest and add 1 extra. Now it looks like Rock Auto is getting some more business from me. :(

Why not just buy a 1/2 ton and leave it alone for a winter rat? You sound like me, I need this so I don't have to run the other one, but I need to do all this stuff to it to make it cool 1st!

I wouldn't buy anything at all if I could find a shop to build a front end for the 96, let alone look at it or even think about it. So far, anyways. http://www.fourwheeler.com/features/1609-a-prerunner-dodge-ram-diesel-thats-smoking-fast/ This front suspension would be nice, the rear is overkill obviously, nowhere to put groceries on that thing. Long travel leaves and shocks with a bed cage for the shocks would keep bed space. Too bad that I beam front end isn't available as a "bolt on" kit. (I should contact them and confirm that however) Which is why I am looking at ford and chevy that actually have aftermarket support. Factory parts don't last that long or perform very well on the winter road here on any truck, raptors do ok, but 100K is WAY to expensive for 11 inches of wheel travel, I could build twice the truck for 1/3 the money or less with bolt on parts, maybe a little fabbing required, which I could do.
