I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a new ecodiesel. Buddy of mine has one with 115 000 kms on it getting 34 mpg, or 7 litres per 100 kms. Only thing he doesn't really like is he can't haul much weight in it without pointing headlights in the sky. 11 mpg better than my 96 and heated power seats sure sounds economical and comfy lol. Any ecodiesel horror stories? Better off to wait on a Colorado ZR2 with a 2.8 Dmax? I guess a blown ecodiesel could be replaced with a 4bt, or the newer 2.8 cummins 4 cyl common rail getting used in some jeep swaps. I've heard of one ecodiesel turned up to 600 hp, twinned with the stock turbo externally gated, doubled boost with lower drive pressure. So they must be at least moderately durable to not fly apart at that power level. Been looking at used ones, but they all have the 20" dumb dub wheels, no carpet delete, no posi, no 3.92 gears to go with a future lift kit. Brand new is only 20-30 bucks more a month than a low mile poorly optioned one anyway.
