There was a 7.9 last year, but it was off the coast 200 miles away. Still shook things up pretty good here. Pete, we are well over 500 after shocks now. That big one was in 64. The pattern of after shocks is moving North, getting closer to my are. Probably why Wasilla/Big Lake suffered as much damage as Anchorage did. Palmer, closer to home only had minor damage and didn't loose power. I still haven't been able to contact anyone at work to asses the damage to my hangar other than no one got hurt.Tomorrow mornings commute is going to be a bear. The main highway was damaged and that is pretty much our only route. Then throw in a winter storm warning for 3" to 15" of snow.

Who can offer the best advice on a heater core? Tired of freezing and not being able to defrost the windows in my 86 W100. Im hoping to not have to pull the dash out. On a related note, wheres the best place to get all the window seals for the doors? Dont tell me LMC.

Dam that is going to really screw with things getting all that snow on top of damage already.

What's worse is we are getting that rain, freeze, thaw thing going on. Water flows into these cracks, freezes and expands. Then starts all over again.

Got 3 hours of rain yesterday before freezing temps, now theres 15" of snow sitting on top of said ice. Needless to say, we're at the house for a good bit.

We bought a Honda EU2200i inverter a couple weeks ago and its keeping us warm and coffee'd up :D. Maxed out full load it will run 3.5 hours per gallon of gas. Ive got 24 gallons in cans, so worst case we've got 84 hours of run time.

I put a tach/ hour meter on it and it's interesting the gxr120 engine is rated peak power @ 3600 revs, yet running full load just shy of overload it will turn 4500 rpm......

Bought a 33" snow blower yesterday. Good thing, we got dumped on last night. Got a foot overnight and still snowing her on the flat lands. Up at my cabin in the hills there is a lot more. Need to get that place finished so I can stop paying rent.

Got new U joints for the back driveshaft for the 4runner, hopefully get them installed today. Took the rear shaft off already and drove to work in front wheel drive. That really showed the need for a better wheel alignment, was all over the road lol. Got four new 265/75/15's coming in this week for it as well. And right there I have more money into it than I paid for it lol. Should be highway worthy after all this, had a vibe above 60 kph, but had a slightly sloppy front u joint, and rear mounting bolts were hand tight.

Well had it up to 120 kph vibe free, so I can actually use it on the highway now. Going to get an alignment Friday or Saturday, gotta see if I can get the drivers tie rod broke loose so the alignment shop doesn't gotta screw with it. Gave it an oil change with 5w50 and half a at of Motorcote, which it seems to like, much quicker to rev up. Gonna try this stuff in the w250 eventually as well. A new air filter and maxed timing ( as much as I could advance it at idle without backfiring ) pepped it up a little more. I'm guessing 20 hp compared to when I got it with dirty oil and filter, and fully retarded stock timing.
Fired up the dodge and got it into the shop to defrost after shovelling and brushing most of the snow off of it. It started charging around 16-17 bolts for a couple mins while cleaning it out, then it went back to normal. Shut it off in the alley to pull the 4runner out of the shop, and when I went to start it I got a click and a big puff of smoke from a fusible link I believe, that two wired black thing running off the positive terminal. Had to jump underneath and short the solenoid to start it. Seems like every time this thing site for any amount of time it has random electrical issues lol. It's going to be a drivetrain donor eventually anyways.

Snow blower ran for about 30 minutes and the transmission seized. Don't have time to mess with it right now. Have to hire someone to take care of it. Moved the last of my tools out of work yesterday. Closing the doors the 31st. Already have a new job lined up. Still in aviation, but more management and less turning wrenches.

Grand total time without power was 37 hours. The inverter ran for 31 of those hours only stopping for 2 break in oil changes and fuel ups. Powering a 1500W heater full time and the microwave & coffee pot when needed we used a hair over 4 gallons of gas in 31 hours. So for what we used it for (keeping 1 room at 72 degrees constant) it averaged around 8 hours per gallon of eth free gas.

I bought a 3000 watt power inverter on black Friday, so far I've run a shop vac off of it, about 780 watts. It may come in handy one day.

Pulled the heater box out from under the dash today to change the heater core finally. Fresh air intake side was pretty much full of leaves, got that and the antifreeze mess cleaned out. Also leaving out the AC radiator out of the box. Turned the air intake door over from fresh to recirculate and left the actuator rod detached. Far as I can tell it will be on recirculate all the time this way, and draw air only from the bottom right passenger vent in the heat box.
Now the fun part, putting it back in.

Got the heater box back in place, vac lines and heat control cable hooked back up. Be core I put it in I plugged the fresh air intake with a piece of 4 1/4" X 7 3/4" X 2" thick piece of high density styrofoam, left it protruding about a 1/4" out of the kick panel, heater box had no trouble sliding over it. Now that it'll suck air from the inside vent I can cover that vent with a screen and/or bounce sheet and have a cabin filter of sorts. Just the steel braces, glovebox, ashtray, stereo, and heater lines left to do. Not sure if I'm gonna bother putting the oil soaked insulation back on, may use a chunk of silver bubble wrap or something.
