After some more thorough searching I found the key for the W250, hopefully have it in the shop tomorrow to change the head gasket. Hopefully that's where it's losing coolant, there was some coolant spray on pass side of engine.

Very happy! Saved me days of screwing around with ignitions. Gonna plug in the block heater to a generator for a couple hrs this morning while I finish shovelling it out. Should have the head off at least today if it fires up. Now that I think about it egt was rising faster than normal last time I drove it, so expecting to find a blown headgasket. If the gasket looks good I may swap the head from the 96. I suspect the gasket tho, it looks original.

Got it fired up and took it for a little spin and parked it in the shop. It was frozen and sunk down pretty good had to jack up the front tires and throw some boards under to get it moving. Covered dads camper in soot trying to break it loose. Shouldn't have parked so close. More or less calling it a day besides digging out tools and lubing exhaust bolts.

Are any of you guys good at decoding Dana rear axle tags? I picked up 4 second gen crome steel wheels and an axle for $200. I couldn't pass it up. The bom is 605590-8. It comes up as a Chry model 70/267 with differential type P/L. Am I reading that right that it's a Dana 70 with limited slip?

Will an alternator off a 93 work on the externally regulated 90? It was charging the 1st day I got it running, alternator only has maybe 10k miles on it. Swapped on a nicer looking regulator off the other 90, made sure its grounded, checked for loose wires. How does one test an alternator? Is there something else I should check?
Ended up having to rob the new starter off the 96 as well, couldn't get another 1/4 turn out of the old one boosting a new battery, starts instantly now. Direct wired the heater fan to a switch from the battery as switch and/or resistor not working, got the stereo working, got the cigar lighter working for gps as speedo quit working yesterday on test run to town to get fuel. Swapped the wheels back from the 96 as well. The front seal is leaking fairly bad as well, not as bad as the 96 tho, and the puddles are black, not blackish green lol. The rad and overflow stayed full on the 25 mile trip and it seemed to run good, so I'm holding off on the headgasket for now, and keep boost under 15ish. I'll take my engine crane and gasket with me to my buddys shop with a cement floor, much less headache. It's roadworthy for now except for the charging system lol. I forgot how nice it is to cruise at 75 mph with 3.07's and OD.

The two small wires on the alt are field terminals. Ground one terminal. The other terminal throw 12 volts at it. The alt will be at max output.

I tried that and it made a loud pop and a puff of smoke from the wiring behind the battery. Don't know what popped, but the alternator started working again. Put about 400 kms on it so far, no lost coolant. I did find a wet heater hose, which looks like it might spew coolant at higher rpm, head gasket looks dry, still makes the same 32 psi boost the fuel screw was set to 5-6 yrs ago. Took it up to 155 kph in od locked pushing 26 psi, about all the locked converter would hold at that rpm, and it outran the lift pump/fuel filter. Need a lift pump and heater hoses, and a torque converter and a t-case rebuild. One wheel peel is terrible, useless in snow compared to the 96 with posi.

I did a bit of side work on the weekend on an 02 vp44 truck that’d been honed/rerung fairly recently. It had developed a lot of blow by, and after digging into it it’s not really any wonder why. It was like they told a newer guy who’d never rebuilt an engine to do it. #1 oil squirter broken, crosshatch wrong and barely there, #4 oil control ring broken. Really not ideal, and everything is on the high/loose side now, and it’s supposed to be an insurance job, so no idea what they’ll want to do.

ive got a rockwell 223 tcase, cant find any ratio info on the case, saw one listed with 2.05 ratio, kinda disappointed as big as this thing is looks like it'd be about 3 or 4 to one.

I'll be making a trip back to indiana here soon, going to pick up my 48re case there, after i get back here i'll take some pics and post up how to convert an re to an rh tranny, actually got made fun of on a couple threads on the ramcharger board for saying that. Reminds me of saying the 518s could be converted to lockup, got ridiculed for that one too, long time ago.

Bought a front seal for the w250 as it was leaking about 90 drips per minute warmed up at an idle with only 4-5 qts in the pan. Pulled the rad and fan to find the kdp didn't feel like being tabbed. Case was/is broken, assuming the kdp made it to the oil pan I hope. Thoroughly cleaned the affected area, filled the cracks with permatex grey, tapped the 2 bulging broken chunks of aluminum case almost back into place, added 1/4" layer of the grey stuff, and enclosed the front of the motor with a heater for 24 hrs. Changed heater/rad hoses/clamps and bypassed trans cooler as it has a hard line rubbing on the down pipe that'll leak if it isn't already. Drove over 200 kms today and its dry as a bone, no lost coolant as far as I can tell. Only issues were the od and lockup wires coming loose again, and a loose boot clamp on the intercooler. It let loose like a fog horn passing a semi lol. Oops. Kept it at 6 psi or less to keep from tootin rest of the way to town.
Can the shaft seal on the ip be changed with the pump on the truck, or will I have to unglue the timing case and pull the pump?

Well my key switch/lock cyl. took s dump again yesterday. When the original went, I ran into o oreillys to throw one in there and obviously it didn't last too long. Are the Napa switches any better? Is there a certain go to switch that I should get?
