Just habit to not load the alternator until the grids kick out. I also usually turn the lights off as I'm backing in the driveway too.
Ok, I don't know, I'm a superstitious old guy!

I like to turn my lights off when backing into my driveway too. I don't know why, maybe it's too distracting to have them on when I need to make sure I'm not hitting the fence or mailbox.

That was why I put cube floodlights tied to the backup lights on the back of my 4th Gen, and lights on my roll bar tied to my cargo light on my 93. Both trucks have plenty of light to make reversing very easy. I do leave my lights off until I actually get under way, but part of that is it doesn’t look like it’s running when I do that, and the doors are unlocked with the key in the ignition.

Ok, I start my truck, (the 97, the 92 doesn't have heaters and it only goes when it's summerish) I wait until the grids cut out and run a wipers a swipe or 2 to clear the rest of the snow off the window, then let it run to warm up. I kick the lights on and go. When I get to work, or home at the end of the day, I turn off the lights and heater fan for the last 100 feet or so to charge with no extra load.

DMan, I have a 36 watt LED for a back up light too. Fricking 2nd gens and their damn tinted back up lights, some engineer should be kicked in the nuts. Hard. Very hard!

In the morning I eat honey nut or honey bunches, brew some 40 wt coffee and pick through the shirt closet like a small girl. I then decide if I want to wait 4 miles or 12 miles before I have heat and take my merry tookus to work

Does it bother anything in the IP if your idle is imposed by the throttle rod rather than the idle screw? Throttle shaft isn't touching the idle screw, it's kept from idling down farther by the throttle rod

Naahhh, it's ok like that. Only thing is if the linkage gets loose your idle can drop down more.

I fixed a truck that was like that once. Lengthened the rod, then turned the pump up til it idled high enough since I couldn’t get to the low idle stop. I did what I think Caleb mentioned on mine and put the nut for the low idle screw on the front side of the pump, so it is actually reachable even with the pump advanced.

I fixed the not being able to rev over 3000rpm thing in my car yesterday. Turned out the intake after the egr valve was nearly plugged solid. Cleaned most of it out, and wow, what a difference. Also turns out my car will not start with factory programming, and an egr delete, unless I did something wrong with the vacuum hoses.

The trick with the low idle screw is to turn the screw around so you can easily adjust from the front, and leave the nut in the back. The nut takes up too much room in the front and on my rig it won't idle down with it there.

Those intakes plug all time on those cars. Cleaning the intake is a once a year thing for a lot of guys.
Most of them schedule it for the summer when the weather is nice. ;)

Anyone got a sure fire,100% proven home remedy for kicking the flu in the nuts? I started shivering and aching yesterday around 10am and I feel like hammered dog schit! Sucking down theraflu helps but I need to get back up and running? Threw in the towel yesterday after a 13 hour day and today I barely made the same time today.....moving slow, very slow. If you have a home cure, share it please!!! Lol

Thank yuns. I just stake the idle nut with a cheap screwdriver and loosen or tighten accordingly

I don't drink, but it seems like if you can get down a good dose of JB or JD it can speed things along.

My greatgrandma would make up a dose of raspberry brandy, vicks, sugar, and make me drink it.

as I got older I would just dring a Half pint of Beam or Jack.

I’ve had a 3/4 shot of everclear help, but I can’t say I’ve had the flu in the last few years.

I've heard a few times that jack or Jim would take care of it.....pep you up some. I just try to steer clear of that.
