Just put this engine in for my dad.

First start ( other then factory dyno run ) of a 383 chevy from Blueprint Engines. The dyno was 450 horses and just under 500 foot pounds of TQ. Car is a 66 Malibu Chevelle clone.

Sounds good. Looks like its got an AFB on it. Bet she's running rich at idle. Kind of sounded like it.

Well, car is broken already. LOL Dad power shifted 2nd and blew up the Saginaw 4 speed. I knew that transmission was on borrowed time,,,, they were never made to handle over 300 hp. A brand new Tremic 5 speed has been ordered, and a new 3.73, posi unit as well. That will be a winter project for me when the stuff shows up. Its been 2 months already waiting for the transmission. I am not doing the rear ring and pinion install ( not qualified ), but should be able to fiddle the transmission in.

Hope you ordered the right gear set. The 3.73 is a break off gear. You need to know if it has a lower gear set carrier or a higher number gear set. There are wo different carriers like Dana. 3:73's could be gotten for both carriers.

I ordered the carrier, and the ring/pinion so we are good ( I hope ) . Went with the series 3 carrier set up. Hopefully it is all the right stuff. Waiting for the ring and pinion to come. I had bought a Richmond set for it, but the installer said no way, get a Motive gear set or he would not touch it. :roll:

Wonder why he nixed the richmond gears? I haven't seen any problems with them.

He had said in the past that he had Richmonds be noisy no matter the pattern set up. He said he would install the Richmond, but he would not stand behind the install. If it was loud, we were on our own. He said he would guarantee the install with Motive gear set.
