What tuner for my 91?

Postby rbrettctd » Mon Jan 21, 2008 10:50 pm

JK!!! Im hunting a tuner for my dmax...turns out the fact that the 1st gen smokes it in power and mileage has got me twitching for a chip.

For the Dmax, only the EFI Live. That is where you would spend the least money per hp due to its custom programming.

haha, so Ive heard. unfort its not my truck and i dont want to tear up anyhing. Im thinking hypertechs max energy, claims up to 20% mpg gains, while thats probably not true, it does seem safe. Also looking at quads, got a dealer buddy wholl hook me up at dealer cost.

Diesel Power just did a write-up in Jan. or Feb. issue on getting a LB7 (? 01 truck) Dmax to squeek into the low 20's-high Teens for mileage. They did a header upgrade, intake, and chip. That was better than 16-17mpg. Look it up and give it a read.

Hypertech I'm not too sure of in the GM industy but I wouldn't waste money on for my 03. EFI Live has tons of options for the future. Or diablo products run good and the price is great. Customer service is good too.

Im between predator, quad, and the max energy. Ive read some good stuff on all three. Im watching on dieselplace right now. EFIlive is cool, but I aint spending 700 to get the 90hp I want....I dont want very much extra power.

if your paying 700 bucks for someone to download a 90hp tune into your truck you are Psycho......shouldnt cost over 250-300 for a single "one size fits all" tune.....
