bleeding a beckett oil burner

My heat went off yesterday (oil/boiler) beckett, changed the filter, tried to bleed it and nothing happened. The oil tank is in my basement, oil was flowing fine, firomatic valves were open, cracked the bleeder screw when priming, I hit the reset a number of times but it just isn't priming correctly. any ideas?? going down to 10 tonight.
