Cajun that is normal for the rust belt. You just learn to deal with it. Like you said a torch, air chisel, BFH. You learn that in brake lines don't play games. Throw a wrench on it. If it twists off no big deal make a new one and be done with it. I have seen guys spend an hour to remove one brake fitting. I can make a new line in 1/3 the time and set back and have a dew and laugh at them. :D

I just cut the line at the nut, put a 6 pt socket on it, and spin it out. New lines, a few cable ties, and I'm good to go. IMO it's a waste of time to even bother with the original clamps. I just tie the new line to the old one.
Time is money. Mine! ;)

Its funny you say that Pete. I had a 76 chevy plow truck for 10 years or so and when I sold it it had 3 sets of brake lines to the rear. 2 junk ones and 1 that was in service. Never took them out. Just keep adding.

'tis a shame you cant just put a new cab over your old one and hold it in place with your cable ties. i guess you used them all tying your stacks to your taliepipe?

i apologize for sounding like a broken recod, but im runing out of ammo here. gimme some new material why dont ya???

wow, i mean really. just wow. it's always a big show for us when we get a travelin yankee down here with something broke under the vehicle. the whole shop stand under it on the rack and stares in disbelief.

i know most of ya'll couldn't survive a week in our high 90's, 95% humidity summers, but man i just dont see how ya'll deal with that. not to rub it in but all 5 of mine don't have so much as a pin hole of rust on them. surface scale on the bare frames is all. even the parts truck with the moon visor still has good cab corners.

btw, we had a 5" snow back in december (only the 2nd time in my 40 years i've seen snow like that) and the whole damn parish came to a grinding halt  . the wife and i really enjoyed the snow day :)

Its all give and take. I have never had to leave my house due to a storm, my house can not flood, very rare to have a twister here. No critters up here that want to eat me for lunch. No snakes that can kill my fat ass.
Its quiet here. Our biggest snow this year was like 18 inches. No biggie.

that's the biggest downfall. i can't flood where i'm at, but twice a year or so we get to load up and run like hell from a big storm. it's just part of living here. as for the critters, we just eat them first :P .

Im with Cajun93, I just bought a truck today that was on the road in Ohio for 6 years. I thought I was getting a good deal untill I picked it up. The only thing I can salvage is the interior, doors, axles, and hood. But for what I gave for it I will be ok. Ya'll up in the rust belt have my simpathy.
