Might have another four back tired gas guzzler............

Postby dodgetkboy78 » Thu May 08, 2008 2:14 pm

I have been drooling all over myself every time I see this straight clean white 2x 93 dually drive down the road, it looks like it has been parked all winter, and has nothing but highway miles on it. Well, I was right. It's for sale now, for 3500.........he has moved to a place where his 2x wont make it. I just happen to have a 95 4x cummins I ain't very proud of, and it looks like I will trade him.
It's a 360 for now, five speed, so it looks like I'll be looking for a cummins to stuff in it.....if I get it. Kinda excited, like I need three one tons, but, this way, I can turn my 74 gold truck into a "toy" and it wont get all wore out, and worked. Not to mention this trucks got RED interior (my 92 club cab, is baby sthi brown) power winders, and air.

No one around here shares my excitement, they see two dual tired trucks in my yard, and ask why I need a third.

That's the most awful tan I have ever seen!
The red is worse though. Every time I see a truck on e-bay and it has a red interior, I blink and hit the back button! It's just too red!

My truck is solid red on red. It took some getting used to, but it has grown on me over the years.

My 91 2500 cummins had red interrior, I got used to it......I miss that truck......I hate to think how fast I could have made a 3/4 ton 2x single wheel with a auto go..............my stick spends more time shifting than on the throttle.

Trade a 95 4wd Cummins truck for a 93 gasser trash truck??? You are aware that you'll need a complete donor truck for a Cummins swap, not just the engine right? The 5 speed is a gasser trash nv4500 that won't bolt up, and the rear end is a 60 rear that is super gasser trash sissy compared to the d70.

$3500 seems a touch high for a gas truck that old. Even if it's in mint condition, mint dually bed and fenders, no rust I would say $2000 TOPS. Now maybe if it had a Chris Hughes fancy aluminum tricked out flatbed, then I could see the price being right. But then again, I'm cheap.

You ain't seen, (or smelled) the diesel, and, it's a second gen........Yeah, I know I'll need a core support, motor, mounts, I know, I know. You see, up here, the body is the hard part to find nice, and, a 2000$ truck, double it in Alaska, unless you get real lucky. It is a dually, therefore, it is a 70, same rear the diesels have. And yeah, it is in mint condition, only damage is drivers front fender by the marker light, and I can live with that. I may just end up being turned into my club cab, to make it nicer in the end, I don't know, but I just cant get into my 95 auto cummins that smells like an old shoe............

You've confirmed this by what, looking at the original equipment label under the hood or eyeing under the truck directly at the '70' stamped on the rearend? Oh just by guessing hehe, well no they are 60's in gas trucks unless ordered differently.

I didn't know you were in Alaska, well dress warm motha.... lol jk. I can see the price of things higher then.

Because I am obviously more intelligent than you?

A Dodge one ton, dual rear tire, with a 60 huh?

You know, I have seen factory D60 dually rears, in Toyota 1 tons......

You are in the wrong forum!

And I know it's a 70, because I looked at it, front the rear of the truck. I guess it could be a 71, but it has 4:10 gears..................-

I'm not gonna argue the topic. But I am surprised you didn't know that from your huge junkyard of Dodge trucks. I looked at your pics, very nice. Or you could just be one of the many people that weren't aware that just because it's a dually one ton 350 truck that it's a Dana 60, not a Dana 70. Most folk think, one ton truck, dually wheels, automatically, Dana 70  . Where's that yawn smiley?

The rules for what Dodge put in trucks in the 70s 80s and early 90s are about as good as the rules for the english language. I've got a 90 w350 gasser single wheel with a 70 in the rear and a 60 in the front with 4.10 gears.

Since you are so sure of yourself, I challenge you to find me a dana/spicer 60 in a dual rear end truck.

standard rear end, in a dual rear wheel one ton dodge, is a 70.

The was never a D60 made for dual wheels, from the factory.

Do me a favor Einstein, go politely ask if you can look at this prospective gasser one ton truck's rear end. While you're under the bed, measure the axle tube's circumference, aka the distance around a circle or in this case, an axle tube. If it comes to 10", you own me an apology and a 'you were right'. If it's bigger, then you've got a D70.

As far as the challenge, got one right here in my backyard. Came out of my 85 Dodge Crew Cab D350 dually. 1 1/4" 30 spline axle shafts, 10" tube, vs. the 90 D70HD that's under it now, with 1 1/2" 35 spline shafts 11 1/16" tube.

I have, in my yard, a 1972 D300 4.88 gear /6 auto dual rear end.....

D70

A 1974 D300 4:10 gear 318 auto dual rear end

D70

a 1992 D350 Cummins 3:54 gear five speed dual rear end

D70

A rear end, out of a 1992 D350 cab/chassis 4:10 318 auto dual rear end

D70 (this rear is taken out, and apart, robbed for guts for the cummins)

And now, a 1993 D350 4:10 gear five speed 360 magnum dual rear end.
The build sheet says it's a 70, and just to make you happy, I climbed under it, and found the "70" on the housing.

70, 70, 70.....I have seen TONS of D70's, in dual tire dodges, no 60's. In fact, DANA doesn't even list a hub for a 60 dual wheel.

The standard rear, for a dual tire one ton dodge, including the camper 9000 single tire, V10 3/4 ton and cummins 3/4 ton single tire, is a D70.............

LIke I said, prove me wrong. Google up some actual documented proof, not just what you have in your back yard.

prove me wrong.
