Anyone see the price of turbo's lately?

Postby bgilbert » Thu Jun 05, 2008 5:32 pm

Good lord!!!  Anyone see the price of your run of the mill S300 lately, say from HTT? Used to run anywhere from $800-$1200. Now I see they run up to $2200    . Sure the price of fuel, materials etc have gone up but DAMN! I think the aftermarket has just left the majority of 1st gen owners in the dust, including myself, well except for those with their own 'mechanics' not to mention any names.

I guess those with $40k-$50k+ fancy new trucks can afford to drop $2g's on a turbo  . Or is it the suppliers, Schwitzer/Borg Warner, Holset etc, saw that there was a huge demand for these off the shelf parts and said well heck lets jack the price WAY up, we should be getting in on all the money??

What does a s300 62/71 t3 foot run ya nowadays? Sucks!

Bill you see one of the reasons I went with the HX40. Every where I was looking was saying $1200 for a S300.

What was bothering me was the adds on them. All of them stated they flow like a HX40 with the spoolup of a HX35. If this is true why does the base S300 only support 400 HP compared to the HX40's 425 to 475 HP.

Myself I think its the big name dealers where all the markup is. Push the new and improved at the highest price the market will bare.

The HX40's can be had about anywhere why try to push them. There isn't much profit margin I bet.
