Girl friend vs. cummins

Postby redneckroot » Mon Aug 11, 2008 7:54 pm

Thought I'd share this story. So my last cummins that I owned was a could of years ago it was a 93 4x4 southern truck, had some dents but was all in all good shape. But like all of these things I was always working on it and always in debt because of it. So when it came time to either A) spend 50 bucks on going to dinner and a movie with the old lady OR B) A new tie rod end..... well the truck sure steered better after that weekend. So as things went on she began to accuse me of cheating on her with my truck because I spent more time and money with it then with/on her. So as many girls do I was given the "choice" either her or the truck... Well needless to say the truck sure did come along way will all of my new "free time." But ended up broke one summer with a blown up tranny and needed some way to get my ace back to and from work and school so I had to sell it. The funny thing is going into the relationship that I'm in now I told her that I was going to be getting a new (old cummins) and that once I do the only way she is going to see me is to hang out in my shop. So I knew I had a keeper when I handed her the valve covers over the weekend and she took them back to her place to polish them. Like I said in other posts owning these things is like a sickness. I feel like that guy in the movie Christine, except my truck doesn't fix itself or kill people. (if you haven't seen that movie and you like old cars you should)

my wife loves the idea that if she needs to talk to me all she has to do is look for my feet sticking out from the truck somewhere. i don't do bars and clubs, and i dont chase ho's. she goes to the track and car shows with me. hell, she even made the 13 hour ride to kentucky a couple years ago. when you find the right one you know it.

do your best to keep her
daryl

p.s. i enjoy laughing at my buddies who have a pre-concieved notion of what a women should be. they chase the blond, size 2, keeping up with the neigbors, kinda chicks that you couldn't pay me to be with. they also keep gettin rid of 1/2 thier stuff on a regular basis  . try finding one of them socialites that will bring you a bacon sandwich at 11:30 under the hood of your truck 8) . did i mention i love my wife?

Do either of those women have a nice single sister? I'm thinking of trading up to a more diesel friendly model. ;)

My wife got a hold of my old truck magazine the other day and a restored 1958 H-63 Mack (cab-over) she said Hon I like that truck don't ya think we would look good pulling our camper with that. I told he it didn't have AC and it would be cooler in a 85 KW double bunk. Well she found one of those today. I love that woman.

My wife won't drive my truck. That suits me just fine. The last time I had a 4x4 truck she liked. In the winter if the payed liar said it was going to snow. I would walk out the next morning to go to work and my truck was always gone. Her car would be in the drive way.

At that time I stepped up to 1 ton dually's and she hasn't driven a one of them.

Redneck you got a good one there. Hang on to her.

Well I figured it was a good thing when she drove to my place last night to get the other valve covers.

Oh and she comes from a house full of brothers so no luck there for you. But I will say being with a girl that has 3 older brothers tends to make things interesting after a couple of beers.

I got one like that- we went to Houston in Jan 06 to get 2 trucks. Plan was for her to drive the one back, and I would tow the other with my 91. Transmission kept sticking in 2nd gear, so she got to tow the other truck in the 91 for 900mi back home. First time ever towing ANYTHING on the highway.

The fall after we started dating, we set a VE R&R record of about 40min to replace the pump-to-flange gasket on my mom's pickup.

I've told her I'm going to hire her to hold horses for me when I get back from farrier school.......

My wife barely tolerated my smoky cummins trucks, until fuel prices went up, and she realized that it is easy to get over 20mpg, and tow any hill with the fourwheelers, kids, and misc crap over any hill over the speed limit, passing all other trucks, and still get near 18mpg.

She has lately been bugging me for a cummins ramcharger with the pump tweaked and big injectors like my truck. She's coming around.

Wonder what a 3.55 gear OD auto ramcharger would get for mpg........
