The Job

Postby TWorline » Sat Nov 29, 2008 7:29 am

Once again  I did not write this but thought y'all might like to read it.

THE JOB - URINE TEST

(Whoever wrote this one deserves a HUGE pat on the back!)

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I
pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In
order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test
with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the
distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I
have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no
problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other
hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their rump- --,doing
drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would
save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?
I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.
Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all
will pass it along, though. Some thing has to change in this country --
and soon!!!!!!!

Seems to me that, out of all the populist crap that gets passed around the Internet, the urine-test-for-welfare seems like one that is very possible for putting into effect.

But it leads me to realize that I have no idea what kind of welfare is available in the United States.

Does unemployment or disability/ worker's compensation classify as welfare?
What welfare programs exist in the United States?
How does one qualify for welfare?
Are welfare programs federal or state?
How much does the typical welfare recipient get?

I bet that 95% of the people that call for welfare reform would be very hard pressed to give even the most basic overview of how welfare in the United States functions.

I define welfare as ANY AND ALL govt aid- state, federal, or local- that one does not work for to receive- food stamps (or whatever it is now), medicaid if you're not 65+, ANY govt funded career training, scholarships, or other education funding. I am a white male felon, so I have had to work my ass off to get money together to go to school to better myself. I figure if I can do it, some black chic with no record should do just fine. Basically, if you are drawing a check from a govt entity (besides SS retirement, which is another Congressional anal reaming), you are a welfare bum.

Unemployment is a grey area, but since most employers pay into the state unemployment insurance fund, it is more of an insurance payment than free aid. I still refuse to draw it, unless it'd be to get back at an employer wo unjustly fired me

Dan, don't you mean white male feline? ;) I thought underage drinking was only a misdemeanor?

I agree with Tim, if I gotta piss in a cup, let the scumbags do it too! That should take care of 2 problems in this country, more money for the national debt, and less drug problems!
