Sooo its finally happening!

Postby Raymo » Sat Jan 17, 2009 12:07 pm

I sold my pride and joy big block today, which was heartbreaking... but I now have enough to finally buy a *^%%$%# Cummins!!!

I have a question tho. the donor I'm lookin at has a 727, everything works great and its a good price, but how is milage gonna be with my 4.10's and 33's? About the first month it will be horrible cause of my foot... but what about till I get a 5 speed?

Then it will be bad for another month because of you foot! ;-) I have 33's on mine with 3.54 and get between 17 and 20 MPG. With 4.10 I would guess 15 - 18.

Are you putting the cummins in the chevy ? You should be able to use the nv4500 with the cummins.

Man I wish, its the older 4500, annndddd its got the super low granny gear so I dont think I can change the input shaft. If I remember right its the 96 and newer 4500's from chevys that you can change over, mines the original 93

You guys talk like you keep the foot to the floor of a first gen because they're fun to drive.

On a stock first gen, you put the foot to the floor because you want it to move...

They're the slowest things on the road stock.

:D The leaning tower of power :D

I had an 89 with a 3.9 v6 and 35s...I actually won money sand drag racing in it. You gotta love bracket racing. I wound up replacing it with a 318 out of a boat. I took someone elses word on which direction it turned......
When I couldn't get it started I pulled the distributor cap and watched the rotor turn backwards.

The 1990 I had for a few months was about the same as a stock CTD- but it also weighed a ton less than a stock CTD.

How about a 1983 1 bbl carbed Ford Ranger? Top speed was around 70, and it took all of 1.5mi to get there.
