Throttle Linkage

Postby peobryant » Sun Feb 08, 2009 6:39 pm

Well, while I was changing the oil and filters today, I decided I would try out the throttle linkage mod. I moved the throttle linkage up one hole and the springs down.

I have to say, it did make my truck a whole lot more responsive, but I'm not sure I have full throttle travel. Is there an easy way to check this? Also, it seems like the RPM's hang right above idle for about 1/2 a secong when I let off, and then lower back to idle. Any thoughts?

All in all, I think it is a pretty good, and easy little mod. It makes my close to stock truck a whole lot more fun to drive. 8)

have someone hold the pedal to the floor and then you check to see if the throttle moves all the way. if it doesnt then you know its not full travel. :D

Do you need to know just the gist, or do you want pics and all the sizes of the tools needed?

It's a pretty easy mod, but I think my RPM's hand just a little above for less than a second, and it sounds like my idle is higher?

Did you adjust the length of the rod after moving it over to the next hole? It sounds like the rod is a hair long and is holding the throttle slightly open from your idle setting.

I'll have to take the pics either tomorrow or the next day, but the only tools you will need are two wrenches (don't recall what size) and a screwdriver. I'll have to redo it in my head while I'm taking the pics for the write up.

Sorry, I completely forgot about this...

Richie posted a picture that basically explains what you are supposed to do, I will see if I can find it.

That is what it should look like when you are finished. It's a very straightforward mod. Enjoy. 8)
