Questions asked by the law man

Postby Richie O » Sat Apr 18, 2009 8:44 pm

Got pulled over tonight.
He said " Do you know why I pulled you over? " " NO "
He said " Do you know the speed limit comming out of town? " " I was only doing 30 "
he said " Its 25 mph zone."
" Have you been drinking" " NO "
"What are you doing tonight?" " Driving around "
That was all normal things to ask.
He asked me to shut off the truck. He said it was to loud. It has a stock exhaust and is very quiet.
He asked " Where are your rocker panels?" " Home in a box " I said.
" Are those the stock gauges ?" "NO"
"Did you put that diesel in the truck?" "NO"
" Did you put the turbo on the truck?" "NO"
" How old is this thing?" " Its a 93"
" Oh, Im surprised it still runs."
" What mpg do you get?" " 15 " { actually about 10 }

"OK, have good night". "YUP"

They have grant money from the fedral government for OUI enforcement. They give moneys to the local police and they requir them to do OUI checks. The 5 mph over the limit gave him PC to pull me over and check for drinking. He found I was not and let me be.
I know they will pinch me for smoke some day. And also when the stacks go on.

I've been stopped three times for no good reason just to see if I was drinkin. . . and I only was twice, but I didn't get caught those times. ;) A telephone pole caught me, but that's another story.

Im not poopin on cops. My dad is a retired police chief and I grew up with cops as friends. The only thing that bugs me is when they ask where are you going, or where have you been. You don't need to answer that but it pisses them off if you don't. Your better off answering there questions. I got pulled over one night and they searched my car for a police scanner. I knew the cop and told them a police scanner is not against the law unless you use it for information while commiting a crime. Most cops are good people. Half of the county cops got in trouble last year because one of them was getting married and they had a wild party. They tasered the cop, poured honey all over him, poured feathers on him, tied him on the back of a flatbed truck and drove him though mainstreet blindfolded. They parked him on the street as hundreds of people walked by. The problem was they filmed the whole thing and the vid was leaked to the media.

Well. Richie I wished I could have been invited to that party.
As for searching one I wouldn't let no one search mu truck without a warrant. I don't care if it does make them mad. Every car I ever pulled over was given a choice and I would tell them It won't make me mad if you don't/ If I really thought they had some thing then I would find some excuse to keep them there waiting for a warrant. Most time it wasn't worth the wait. Man I am glad I am retireing next month.

Was looking for a place to crash in Winslow, AZ , pulled into town, there's a
State Patrol officer in the median so I STOPPED for a YIELD sign, with nary a car in sight.
Pull into a grocery store P/L, sure enough he's there, flips the lights on, gets out, comes up on the passenger's side.

Okay, I'm already irate that he's pulling me over, so I do the worst possible thing you can do, I ask him "WTF you going to harrass me about to-night!?!?" in a very ungracious way.
Basically he just wanted to tell me about the bad tag light on the trailer, but because I was less than conciliatory, I also got my log book checked and a quick, cursory inspection on the combo.
In the end he let me off with a warning and was really cool about it all, but it's a reminder that sometimes Johnny Law really
DOES carry the big stick.

That much authority given to one person still makes me uneasy, though.

Mark.

Most are nice until there buttons are pushed. My ole man was quick with the responces he got. Most people knew not to push his buttons because it got real bad quick. I used to ride with him some. I have seen my share of bad crashes. One guy died in my dads arms after he crashed and broke his neck. My dad held his head and neck until the meat wagon got there. He died before they arrived. Nothing bothered him unless kids were involved. One lady killed her baby and then blew her head off. Scary world.
