1990 Dodge W250 trail/tow/preunner rig?

Postby NJDodge » Tue Dec 25, 2012 9:54 pm

Ok, so this is my first truck. I've only owned Volvo's since I've had my license. Decided to finally get a truck. Been asking people and looking up which trucks are the best and so far I've found that the 1st gen dodges are pretty bulletproof. Plans for this thing are 6" suspension lift, 35x12.50x16 tires on 16x10 wagon wheels, Roll bar with lights, cut rear bumper, custom front bumper, and that's really about it, oh and a new paint job.

This is what I'm going from. My 1971 Volvo 144S, which is still an ongoing project and my 1988 Volvo 245+turbo motor

And my newly acquired 1990 Dodge W250 with a chrysler 360, 4inch rough country lift kit, and bald ass 35's

I'll keep this updated as much as possible, doing some work on it tomorrow. Found out the voltage regulator was bad in the ECU, so bypassed it and ran an external voltage regulator out of an 83 dodge W250. Also after having it running for a while, found a leaking fuel line, fixing that this week then a tune up and it's on the road!

Though "technically" not a "1stgen", it's definitely an interesting gasser!
Since it has the old "doorknob" Selectros, it has a Dana 60 front, which consequently means it also has the NP205 transfer case.
It was likely an ordered truck, with those parts being part of the heavy duty front axle package, which came with the 23 spline (auto or 4 speed manual) NP205.
You couldn't order it that way without both the 205 and the Dana 60.

Mark.

Ok, I lost my freaking camera so no pics yet. Well....maybe some.

So far I did

-front wheel bearings
-external voltage regulator
-washed it
-fixed fuel lines
-new thermostat

So far I've been enjoying it. Going to the junkyard in 2 weeks to pick up a fender and some other stuff. I'll be sure to post pics! Anyone near scranton, pa that would want to meet up to go to anthracite? I also need to get new tires and replace the tie rod end on the passenger side. Also I have a check engine code for a torque converter lock out solenoid? Anyone ever had that issue?

Thanks!
-Nick

Oh and some pics of snow and washed. I know, huh? cell phone pics
