95 Dodge 2500 V10 Trans issues.

Working on resurrecting this 95 V10 for plowing, hopefully for a few years.
Working threw the brake issues, but while moving it around the yard, I've noticed the trans seems sluggish.

It takes a fair amount of rpm's to get it to move, mainly in reverse, especially on any sort of incline. Once its moving, moves around fine. Seems 2000-3000 rpms is what it takes. You can blip the throttle to 3000, and it'll move, but if you ease into it, starts to move between 2-2500.

There's no definite felt engagement when shifting to reverse or drive. It has been sitting awhile, several months here at my house, and idk how long before I got it. Fluid is red, correct level and doesn't smell or appear burnt.

Truck has 99k miles on it, but was a plow truck before I got it, and idk the service history. I know these trucks, like outs have the drainback issue, and I did let it set idle in neutral for 30-60 seconds before trying to move.

Only external issue I've found is a rusty trans cooler line up front by the rad that's puking fluid. Otherwise no notable issues. Buddy suggested the tv cable might be frozen, or out of adjustment, but I thought that was only for the O/D, and shifting between gears, not initial moving.

Thoughts, suggestions? It's gone get a flush/band adjustment, just trying to see if anybody might have an idea the issue.

if it's fine after you get it moving and then it does it again after it sits I'm guessing drain back. On one of our older trucks that drain back I will put it in neutral and leave it and the put it in reverse and if I can't feel positive engagement i'll go back to neutral and then back to reverse until I can feel it go into reverse and then go and its fine. Or I've let them idle for a long time in neutral and they will go into gear.

I'll have to let it run in neutral for a bit once I get it back together. Currently redoing the brakes/lines, as well as fixing the leaking trans lines. At least for now, till I get it going and see what else needs attention

My 97 acts weird in the morning too. It has a 47RE with shift kit with the upgraded spool that flows oil in park so the converter should fill right up. When I start it, I kick it in neutral and let it coast down the driveway (backwards), then pop it into reverse into the road, and when I put it in drive it acts sluggish at first. If I back in at night, I start it, put it in neutral for 10 seconds, then drop it in drive and it seems fine.
Like I said, weird. Stupid transmissions!

I don't know how well the upgrade to flow in park works. I've done several of them and it seems to pump fast in neutral than park. Seems I'm better off putting it in neutral to get going.

Finally got to drive it around, and other than adding a quart of ATF+4, I let it sit in neutral for couple minutes, cycled threw the gears, and took for a test drive around the property. Defiantly has positive engagement into the gears, and seems to shift to 3rd. Haven't had it on the road yet to see if O/D is working, but don't see why it shouldn't be.
Took a couple of trips, as I was trying to bleed the ABS without a scan tool, so I did the old dirt road trick, seems to have helped. Got the rear drums alittle tight, smash the brakes and it'll pitch sideways.
