Working on resurrecting this 95 V10 for plowing, hopefully for a few years.
Working threw the brake issues, but while moving it around the yard, I've noticed the trans seems sluggish.
It takes a fair amount of rpm's to get it to move, mainly in reverse, especially on any sort of incline. Once its moving, moves around fine. Seems 2000-3000 rpms is what it takes. You can blip the throttle to 3000, and it'll move, but if you ease into it, starts to move between 2-2500.
There's no definite felt engagement when shifting to reverse or drive. It has been sitting awhile, several months here at my house, and idk how long before I got it. Fluid is red, correct level and doesn't smell or appear burnt.
Truck has 99k miles on it, but was a plow truck before I got it, and idk the service history. I know these trucks, like outs have the drainback issue, and I did let it set idle in neutral for 30-60 seconds before trying to move.
Only external issue I've found is a rusty trans cooler line up front by the rad that's puking fluid. Otherwise no notable issues. Buddy suggested the tv cable might be frozen, or out of adjustment, but I thought that was only for the O/D, and shifting between gears, not initial moving.
Thoughts, suggestions? It's gone get a flush/band adjustment, just trying to see if anybody might have an idea the issue.
