TDIs from '95-'03 had VE pumps, '04 thru '06 had unit-injector or "pump duse" engines, the new '09s are common rail.

hey-Hey!!!,
I had the XR600 a while back. Put a CR250 set of upsidedown forks on it( it nearly bolted right on; had to machine a sleeve/spacer for the top outer race ). The stock forks are a bit flexible for such a big machine; if you can find the CR bits it is well worth doing.

Rigged up the road lights and a tag holder( to hold my CBX's plate ). That was one rockin' bike. Do be careful on the street, riding wheelies is considered a 'display of speed' by the Bacon and rather frowned upon...:) It was rather a handful in the tight stuff, but on the fire trails up in Jim Thorpe it was in its element. It is one of the many I wish I still had.
cheers,
Douglas

canadian models , 97.5 and ealier ( into the 70's here ) all vw diesels had some sort of ve pump .

after that for several years ( can't recall off the top of my head when this changed up , 97.5 and into the early 2000's ) , all the tdi's ran a variant on the ve pump , electronicly controling it , not a true ve , but enough of the parts interchanged bewteen a ve to make a hybrid mechanical pump so as to avoid running the electronics needed to operate the stock pump .

wow old thread ....

btw pete did you ever get that dirtbike ?
'93 w250 .... stock ...
curently removing the dead moose parts ....

Nah, funds dried up in a flurry of bills. I always liked the old XT's myself. I was a Yamaha man from way back, then I rode my buddies ZX10. All done. If you want to go fast, buy a Kawi, if you want to go around corners, buy a Yami. I never really had any Hondas or 'zukis.

hey-Hey!!!,
At one point my stable contained a 1993 CBR900RR, a 1991 FZR1000 and a 1986 GSXR750( along with several CBX's. The GSXR topped the list for feeling good at speed in turns. More comfy too( think old Foster's ad...Touring bike ).
cheers,

You'd think by now we'd( or at least I ) would know to look at the dates...:) Bikes are jus' too interesting a topic. WIsh I still had some, but the thought of the Boy doing anything resembling the lunacy I commited would leave me a drooling, babbling idiot; I just couldn't take it...heh-heh-heh. Now maybe after he learns he's not indestructable we can both go riding.
