Tank! Honda ?

Postby PToombs » Mon Mar 03, 2008 6:07 pm

Don, I found a 87, XL600, 10K miles, worked on by Al Bakers "XR's Only". (whoever he is?) Bored, ported polished, 11-1 piston, 2 k on the engine. It's only about 2 hours from my house, he has a buy it now of $2k, starting bid of $500. Is this a good deal? I don't know much about hondas. If you or anybody has some input, I'd love to hear it.

al; baker is a honda "guru " of sorts ..... i think it's more of a performance type shop now .

listen for wrist pin noise , almost all the honda's had some problem with the wrist pin ... BUT that may have been taken care of by "al baker " , they may have put a bushing in the rod which prevents the wrist pin from galling .

if it looks like it has been taken care of , it probally has been , and vice versa .

It doesn't look bad. He posted the bill from Bakers, spent $2 k on it! $180 to ship it back and forth.

Hmmmmm..........

I figured after all them emissions, and other mandated garbage, they would have used something else. I'm gonna have to look at my buddy's 04 Jetta diesel.

Interesting, learn something new every day!

I think you need a bigger lift kit. Then you just make it a convertible.

It's a 2x.............. :(

Maybe if I get a big honkin' air filter, it the ricers stuck to the outside of it wont restrict it as much.

If I put a snorkel on it, think about it, it will be sucking all the leaves off the trees.

Oh, BTW.

You can never go wrong with a Honda.
