Mixing brake fluids?

What happens when you mix silicone brake fluid with the DOT 3?

I bought a vehicle that the fellow said had synthetic fluid. Did a little work on the front end and had to bleed the brakes. Topped off the master cylinder with silicone and it looks like almost oil and water. The new & old didn't blend, or appear to anyway.

What happens when you do that?

well just coming out of steering and suspension and brakes classes I know that its not good to mix brake fluids and that the higher the dot number the more heat it can with stand but if that was all you had then put it in there stick anything in there you have to for the time being until you can get it fixed but do it shortly the DOT could have broken the silicone base properties apart as well but to clean it approxyol alcohol is a good cleansing and flushing tool hope this can help

The silicone fluid is designed more for high performance styles of driving. It holds up to high temps. It doesn't do well around moisture though. DOT 3 or 4 is a better choice in a truck. And you shouldn't mix them with silicone.
