Michael I find it hard to believe with all the Dodge trucks you have around your place that you don't have a plow mounted to one of your many 440 70's model trucks   ;) ...

Yeah this is the one I plan to pull with a time or two lol. If I can just get this fresh rebuilt/sealed carb Philip built me to stop leaking gas everywhere I'd be set

Maybe if you quit adjusting it with a BFH? ;)

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Yah, and the metric wrenches won't help you much either.....

We got those minor leaks fixed. It took longer to helicoil a bad bolt hole on the intake manifold than it did to fix the carb.

You gotta put some mufflers on that truck or a large stack. If you start to see big piles of rocks around the neighbors front doors get redy to duck as you drive by. roflmao.

Oh I'm gonna kill ya Philip     :ncool: ! This carb has got me confused, as it's still leaking!! It still looks like it's coming from the throttle shaft area on the driver side and the 'second barrel' 'shaft' or screw that pivots and moves the vacuum pod secondary.... whatever it's called lol. Can gas drain back and leak from these areas with the engine not running? It doesn't seem to leak while the engine is running. At least it didn't while you were there Philip. Also that vent on the front bowl has got to go. I'm pretty sure it's sloshing from there and causing a different leak down the front of the carb... Ideas?

Number 1 rule in mechanics:

If the mechanic is there, it won't do it and run just fine till he is/you are gone.

Exactly and I do know how to completely reseal a VE pump so I don't put up with fuel leaks. I'm almost tempted to buy a new Holley at this point  . It might just be the NAPA gasket kit. Maybe we need a genuine Holley kit, Philip?

Take your dremel with a cutoff wheel and remove that vent lever out board of the spring/clamp seup. Leave a small piece of the lever to give the spring something to hold against.

Pull the float level plug on the back float bowl and see if the float level has changed.

I have seen some carbs preculate out fuel after they set. Not in this cold and no more that you drive it. It shouldn't be a problem.

Oh siht! Bill with a cutoff tool working on a carb, better start looking for a diesel to transplant, and a good paint shop clean up the burn spots.
